Could have been a classic techno-spy thriller but......
24 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Apparently the writers don't like good endings - they like bad, and I mean really bad endings!

Season 1 of the original 24 is a case in point - If you saw it you know what I'm talking about it and I stopped streaming the series after that.

Still I came back to it - Yes it has an addictive quality of action, intrigue and excitement - But it is too dark and takes itself too seriously. And if they were going to go down that path, why give us, the loyal fans who watched it, such a terrible final ending to the series.

So if you like excitement and don't care about needless tragedy being thrown in - than watch it - But if you are still a dreamer that believes it should all work out in the end, skip it !!!

A Masterpiece of Comedy SciFi with a serious message
13 February 2022
Tired of sci-fi that takes itself too seriously? Or comedy sci-fi that is for kids only? Then try this this gem of sci-fi movie art. A serious message {Artificial intelligence advancing and then trying to take over} done in a humorous way so as to be endlessly fascinating and entertaining.

A classic movie that should appeal to sci-fi fans of all ages though the humor is often adult so it might be rated PG by some.

Best sci fi comedy I've ever watched!

A Masterpiece of Political Espionage
14 November 2021
Nothing but AAA+++ for this cinematic gem. A true and strange tale of political corruption and one women's courage to fight it. Not an ordinary spy story, even though the heroine could be counted a spy - But not in the ordinary sense of what spying is about. Does exposing the truth constitute spying?

And what price does one pay for exposing lies? In a corrupt World can the good guys still win?

Good acting, writing and directing. Winner of several film festival awards
  • Don't know if it won any Oscars - But it deserves one or more Oscars.

If you want a cerebral political spy story based on fact at its best, watch it !

I did get through four episodes
11 November 2021
By the time I got to the fourth or fifth episode I no longer cared how it would end - The only important thing being that it ended - So I stopped watching it and was greatly relieved that it was over.

This series might be of interest to long time cigarette smokers as almost every event is punctuated by someone lighting up a cigarette - Yes, it will give you a reason to quit. Reminds me of a C grade movie from the 1940s The acting was not so bad - but it plays out like a C grade soap opera
  • worst thing I ever watched on Netflix.

How this series has a current rating of 8.3 while a rather good series on Netflix having to do with a related subject. "Terrorism Close Calls" {espionage} only has a 5.2 I can not understand.

Maybe some people like dull slow playing soap operas instead true dramas.

The Worst Episode in the Whole Series
4 August 2020
I don't know what the others who watched this saw and then gave it a good review. What I saw was grade C third rate science fiction. Dirty and gritty
  • but mostly dirty. A poor Man's horror story - No where near the great science fiction that comprises most of the Voyager series. And it is, even in the imaginative world of science fiction - hard to believe.
Watch it only if you must see every episode in the series - or for the acting which was decent. I've generously given it 3 stars for the acing - Otherwise I'd give it one star.

Underrated, Unique take on a dystopian future ruled by Artificial Intelligence
29 June 2018
We have seen many movies on AI {artificial intelligence} getting out of control
  • This one is different and better - not kid stuff sci-fi but seriou adult
science fiction.

And contemporary - they can already track you by your cell phone - this movie takes it one step further - And gets into what can go wrong - realistic and contemporary view of what the future might hold.

And it has a very interesting whodunit and why type twist at the end.

Bored with the same old same old sci fi movies - Try this one!

New, different and potentially a classic
26 March 2018
I will admit that I am a fan not of magic, but of good and intelligent sci-fi.
  • this series is not sci-fi, but it comes close, and if you like either sci-fi or
magic, you might want to check it out. The only magic series I liked on TV was that series from a few years ago where a professional magician showed us how the illusion is done
  • Then and only then did I find magic interesting.

In some ways this fictional series is similar - you get to see how it is done
  • And like with good sci-fi, it almost seems possible.

Would police agencies ever use professional magicians to catch a crook? Sure, why not?

And the acting and plot development is more than adequate. 9/10

A One of a Kind Unique Classic
25 December 2017
Totally underrated - A great thinking persons sci-fi classic that should still be revived by an online streaming service such as Netflix.

Imagine combining the best in law type dramas with very relevant science fiction
  • science fiction that might have been speculative in 2004 when show was first produced - But is now almost real and happening.

Don't miss it - As of today the whole series is available free on YouTube
  • I binged watched the whole nine episodes in one day.

Throw in great acting, directing, and production values and you have a series that should have been good for at least four seasons.

Give us more!

Might have been a classic alien invasion series, but....
10 July 2016
But apparently the theory that we live in a matrix of parallel universes is true. In my universe this was great science fiction.

I have no idea what the people who knocked this excellent adult sci- fi series were watching - And can't even imagine what they expected. Well they got what they wanted - canceled after 13 episodes.

There have been quite a few good alien invasion series over the years, especially in the late 1990s such as "First Wave", "Dark Skies", and "Earth Final Conflict"

Apparently somewhere between then and now - real aliens have taken over the planet Earth, dumbed down the Human mind, and made inane old style Westerns in a sci-fi format seem good, and intelligent sci-fi like Hunters not understandable to the average viewer.

So accept the truth - the aliens have taken over, watch your Firefly and the Expanse and all the exciting soap opera and drama that goes with it - And skip the really intelligent sci-fi like Hunters - the aliens have won and they will keep you dumbed down. so Don't worry be happy.

Great Sci-Fi Action Movie!
18 January 2015
WOW! - First thought that came to mind when it ended. One of the best clone/android based tech movies I've seen. Builds up slowly but does not leave you bored and then it takes off. Non stop action keeping you on the edge of your seat - similar to the type of none stop action you get in the James Bond movies. Lead characters become immediately likable and has you cheering for them throughout. I've been watching a lot of science fiction lately and one I just finished was a struggle to stay awake watching - Not this one - Bored and/or tired and want a movie to wake you up? Then try this one action sci-fi at its best. The acting, directing, background sound and special effects are excellent - it was nominated for three awards and did when one.

Time travel at its Best !
12 January 2015
One of those few movies where there is time line travel that is on the edge of being believable. Consider Everett's 'Many Worlds' theory: " {an interpretation of quantum mechanics that asserts the objective reality of the universal wavefunction and denies the actuality of wavefunction collapse. Many-worlds implies that all possible alternate histories and futures are real, each representing an actual "world" (or "universe")" - that is a valid theory in modern physics - then watch and enjoy. Relentless excitement from beginning to end.

This is a time travel film that might even impress those who don't believe time travel is possible - And if it is possible this is one way it might happen in the future - Maybe it is already happening?

If you like this film another one almost believable is "I'll Follow You Down" - Also on the edge of believable but not quite as exciting.

Best Time Travel Movie I've Seen
3 January 2015
Why only a 6 for a movie that should have at least an 8 rating? This is the time travel movie for those who doubt that time travel would be possible. Using a valid theory from quantum mechanics in physics the Everett interpretation of Many Worlds theory {Many- worlds implies that all possible alternate histories and futures are real, each representing an actual "world" (or "universe"). That theory stands in modern physics as possible and this movie makes it real. Not one of those time travel movies that keeps throwing you back and forth like it is easy - this one takes the subject seriously and only asks that you allow one main event to be altered - Could it happen that way? - Maybe, but you gotta love the way they do it - they make it seem real. Good acting, good drama and character development, well directed with a good even pace - If your tired of watching the same type of probably not time travel films give this one a shot and you too might say - Maybe, just maybe it could happen.

"The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible." -Arthur C. Clarke

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." -Arthur C. Clarke

Ono of the most serious comedies you will ever see
25 December 2014
Yes, it is done as a comedy; and yes it is funny - and I am not a comedy fan and rarely ever watch comedies - haven't laughed so hard in years.

Now the serious part. We all know the movie making business is about making money, but ask yourself after it is over would you spend a lot of money to make a film making fun of what most of the world considers to be a ruthless dictator who now has nuclear arms and whose attitude towards the US is not in the least bit friendly? Would you not consider the possible repercussions? The hacking of Sony Pictures is the least that could be expected. But now Sony lets it go on the internet where the whole world can watch it - and now a lot of sites are showing it free.

You can watch this picture at face value and enjoy the entertainment - it is funny. But the production, and now free distribution of the movie conveys a very serious message to North Korea - the Western World will not be intimidated by ruthless dictators and totalitarian regimes - Freedom of speech and the Constitution of the United States still stands and no threatening dictatorship will censor or influence it.

Mad Dog Time (1996)

Strange and Interesting, a Classic of film art
20 April 2012
If the Godfather can be rated as the greatest of realistic crime or gangster movies then Mad Dog Time should be rated as the greatest of surrealistic movies. This is a film which takes the serious reality of the mob world of killers and shows them in a strange weird way that should rate this film as one of the great films of the cinema art. It is like watching mobsters in a way the painter Picasso viewed reality with his famous Cubism. In some ways it is Film Noir but in other ways it is comic and even romantic. If you want to see a different kind of crime movie that is well acted and whose meaning may be no more than the art of strange film or showing what creative film making can do, then catch this one.

Maybe the worst movie I ever saw !?!
17 July 2010
Why would they waste talented acting in a film whose plot, leads were only few movies have gone before to meaningless, absolute and possibly you could say Existential NONSENSE. But to be fair and as I think about it this movie could have some appeal to psychos, sociopaths and serial killers and people who like to watch bad movies, and I mean bad!

Grabs your interest to begin with and holds you. And of course your interested and have expectations for the movie and think you are watching a good well produced movie but by the time it is over you will realize you have been taken - taken to nowhere for no reason - Except as an exercise in movie acting there is so little real meaning or purpose in this film you wonder why it was made? I saw it for free on TV otherwise I guess the Hollywood sociopathic mind won - They made money on it, what else matters?
