Impractical Jokers: The Movie (2020)
Not as bad as people are reviewing.
My score also reflects the DVD Release...
When IJ First started airing I wasnt really a Fan of the show, mainly because Trutv (the original airer of the show) used this show to start drifting away from the programing that made me love TruTv, such as; Most Daring, Hardcore Pawn, and Most Shocking but as I realized those shows werent coming back, I decided to finally watch this and was pleasantly surprised by how funny it was, so when I heard a movie was coming out I was a bit excited.
As for the movie, I did expect something like Jackass:The Movie where maybe the beginning would be scripted and then the rest of the movie would be one long episode and maybe something at the end, I was wrong and I am glad I was because what we got was something different as there was an entire narrative through out the movie and you got plenty of scripted bits plus you got the challenges you know and love from the show and as a bonus you got practical jokes that did not count towards their score which was a nice little bonus. Having Paula Abdul was a nice little touch and Kane Hodder as well. Overall I thought it was a very enjoyable flick the pranks and games were funny and the scripted moments were interesting and even set up bits later in the movie.
But while I did enjoy this, I did have a couple issues with it, The first being the theatrical release itself I really wanted to go see this in theaters and this came out RIGHT Before Corona-Mania but for some reason our another WB Decided to only open the movie in about 1700 theaters as opposed to a wider released so I didnt get to see it on the big screen. Next is the Home release version which is why I had to downgrade it from a nine to a eight, im sure a movie like this had to have a TON Of unused footage and not ONE Second of it ended up on the DVD or Blu Ray release of the movie, No commentary, no BTS, Not even trailers for other movies! I figured a movie such as this would have a TON Of deleted scenes or outtakes or something but We really got shafted on the Home release! Next was the narrator from show, where was he? I kind of missed him and finally, the grand punishment, while the punishment in the movie was BIG I just thought they could have went bigger plus on top of that it was like the punishment was an afterthought, kind of like, "Yeah that was out movie and oh yeah here thats really important thing we do in each episode!"
With that said, Overall the movie itself I had a great time with, had some great laughs with and would really like to see these guys in another movie!
Poms (2019)
Went in with LOW Expectations...
I went into this movie with nothing but a Week one Box Office Number and a Poster, thats it. I didnt see a trailer, read a review (well untill I was sitting in the theater waiting for the movie to start). I really did not expect from this movie going into it, I just didnt want to deal with the crowds of Endgame and Detective Pickachu, which I failed there because my house was about forty percent full.
Anyways, this turned out to be such an enjoyable and funny movie with a touch of heart thrown in. When the jokes hit they hit, when the heart touched it touched everything it went for it hit, except one thing, there is a scene when Martha's (Keatons) neighbors Grandson is checking out Martha so naturally you expect it to set up some kind of Puppy dog crush on Martha, but no, nothing ever comes from it, nothing is ever mentioned of that moment again.
Other then that one minor hiccup, The Cast including Keaton, which for her age is still looking FIRE, Pam Grier and the pleasant Surprise of Rhea Pearlman was a joy,The message was fantastic. The laughs were funny and leaves a little tear in your eye!
Highly suggested.
I Spit on Your Grave: Deja Vu (2019)
Why so negative?
*UPDATED*
I dont understand all the 1-2 star reviews on this? I mean first, The Length could have some stuff been shaved off (like the Lunch in the beginning and the convo about being best friends/opening a flower shop) of course. I will say that was Becky was slain I looked at the run time and said out loud "How is there still 25 minutes left." Did this movie NEED To be 2 hours and 28 minutes? No, Absolutely no, but I commend for doing so and just going right for the wall with it.
But,I did find it a GREAT Follow up to the original,I wasnt too big on the original (I happen to think the remake is WAY Better) but for Meir to come back and take another shot at it, I thought it was pretty good. The characters were great, a little over acted (David) and Underacted (Jennifer at Lunch) but I think it added to the appeal. A major complaint seems to be that its basically the first movie again at around the 45 minute mark, well hence why its called Deja Vu.
For a forty year wait on a sequel to a movie I only somewhat thought was interesting, and the fact that I sat through the entire 2:28 run time and didnt pause,go to the bathroom, play on my phone etc. means something to me. Usually with 90 minute movies im on my phone goofing off etc I sat the entire time and watched this straight through.
Did it have one to many Zags for Zigs? Yes. Did it have some parts that were unbelievable? Like David could be heard getting pleasured but not the Gun Shot before it,Yes. Did it have some over and Under acting? Yes. Could you have shaved some time off anf made a shorter movie? Yes.
But would you have expected anything else from Meir? I still think the remake to the original is way better but this was a great follow up.
Backyard Dogs (2000)
GREAT for Hardcore wrestling fans!
Why does the movie get so much flack??? Why is it in the bottom 100 at the IMDb??? Its because of an old theory "people hate what they don't understand" if you understood this movie, if you be loved more then its hated! Me being the hardcore wrestling fan that I am VERY much enjoyed the movie with its exciting story, some good looking matches, and a VERY well done climatic ending. I would bet my life that the people who voted for it to be on the bottom 100 of IMDb is because they are NOT either wrestling fans in general or as hardcore as me. So note to all the hardcore wrestling fans,if you haven't seen "Backyard Dogs" watch it...its FAN-FLIPPING-TASTIC!
Urban Legends: Bloody Mary (2005)
Best of the THREE!
When I first head that a Third "Urban Legend" movie was in the works I was like "YEAH" but then I found out its going DTV (Direct to Video) and I was kinda bummed, but when I saw this movie,I was like WOW,I mean it had the best scares out of the three (although nothing beats the decapitation scene in Urban Legends:Final Cut) Like the scene where Mary comes out of the closet and just stares at the main character,I about crap my pants! But any good movie could be ruined with a bad ending (See Cabin Fever and War of the Worlds) but not with Urban Legends:Bloody Mary, no, you get a twist ending like out of "The Twlight Zone" which was Awesome (I won't spoil the ending here) So when it comes down to it,this little Direct to Video sequel had a lot to offer,Killer death scenes (remember this:Spiders) Twist ending (Cant even tell you to remember something without giving it away), and believe it or not a awesome Urban Legend to play with, they could have easily made this "Urban Legends:Pop Rocks" but no they went for the score at 4th and 10 and then got the touchdown! I would HIGHLY Recormend seeing this sequel, I stand by what I said up above, Best of the Three!
Juggalo Championshxt Wrestling Volume 1 (2000)
Good but not great!
I had a friend that let me have this tape of JCW,and after reading the back of the tape,I was sold, but when I watched the tape it was kinda slow. ICP Started off the show with a FAKE Eminem and Hulk Hogan coming down to the ring, which was lame. The second disappointment of this video was thinking that WWE Legend "Iran Shiek" was realling go to be in a "Suicide Dive Fest" with Izzy High, but was just a slow lame match. As for the rest of the card,it was pretty cool,The Street Fight Battle Roayl was the highlight followed by Abdullah The Buthcer beating the crap out of Rude Boy(Who cant wrestle or act for nothing)and finally the "Titties in the Thumbtacks" Match featuring JCW Princess Angel and "Chick Foley" concept was good but the match could have been better. And then there's the rest,King Kong Bundy beating Tom Dub,Evil Dead taking out Redndck Reble without a Cause in like 6 seconds and of course Insane Clown Posse beating the team of Doink and Doink to become JCW Tag Team Champions. Overall it was good but could have been better, luckily JCW Vol.2 was MUCH better!
The Truth About Charlie (2002)
One of the worst movie I ever seen!
Okay let me start by saying that Charade was a great movie, one of my favorite Hepburn movies (Next to Wait Until Dark),so when I found out they were re-making Charade I knew I had to see "The Truth About Charlie". I went to my local video store and rented it, came home watched it, and at the end I was watching a whole other movie. Some of the movie had very little refernces to the first one. I don't say this about a lot of movies, but the only good thing about this movie is that it ended!
