Dexter: New Blood: Sins of the Father (2022)
Opps We Did It Again!! 👏
Come on writers we were almost there! So damn close to bringing Dexter back and redeeming the dumpster fire ending of the last series. Dexter made too many sloppy mistakes that even being out of the game, he would still have had basic muscle memory of staying covert, and learning from the past mistakes in Miami.
1) When Dexter finds out that Kurt sent him a piece of his son's titanium screw, he should have made that disappear like the murderers he dispatches. No way the Dex we know would hang on to it like a souvenir only by chance to need it in escaping zip-ties. Dexter would have at least carried a knife for survival while up in the wild.
2) Letting the drug dealer live was another mistake that allowed Angela to integrate him WAY later on. The funny part is, when she shows up to nab him, he still selling drugs and killing more innocent people! This is not our Dexter! The real Dexter would have come back and tied up a loose end the night he was released!
3) The final issue I have with Dex is he should have known better about dating a cop, and not just any cop, but the DAMN chief of police! Who at any given moment, under suspicion, can utilize resources to undercover his past. I guess the writers like spitting in our faces with that one as if Dexter hasn't learned his lesson in keeping away from law enforcement...
Sure Harrison, Molly, and Audrey had a hand in feeding information to Angela, but all of the mistakes on Dexter's end caused his doom. You cant bring the show back to have him screw up this bad! Who the hell greenlit this?
I will not be watching any other seasons as this series is dead to me now. Without Dexter (with a plausible ending and more character development with his son to pass the torch to) just leaves me feeling cheated. I am going to try and forget this series and pretend he just died in the damn hurricane before this trash was announced.
The Outer Limits: The Second Soul (1995)
Such dead writing, the aliens should have taken over instead with a better plot.
As with the trending Outing Limit's themes, this entire story had lead me to believe that this episode had a nefarious plot. A plot, one could surmise, that would erase humanity's existence in the devious hands of extraterrestrials or, Earth would jump the gun and wipe them out instead in pursuit of perseverance. Sadly, none of those two potential endings rang true; instead, we get exactly that-nothing. A plot so neutral and devoid of a potential, plausible tie up, would leave one asking "what was the point?".
