6.7? Really? That's why it took me so long to watch this. This was one of the best war dramas I've ever seen. If you're looking for just a bloody action movie, find something else. Though it does have some of that, this film is about the story. I don't normally get emotional watching movies but this movie had my eyes tearing up like 5-6 times. All of the big name actors that played the surviving soldiers put forth some of the finest acting I've ever seen. William Hurt was AMAZING!!! This is one of those cases where the IMDB reviews and score are way off. I really wish I had ignored them and watched this sooner!

So, I'm a 45 year old guy who doesn't usually give a series like this a chance because they all seem to be written for teen girls. I couldn't seem to enjoy the Harry Potter movies. (though my wife loved them) I HATED the Twilight movies!
Never heard of the book/s this series came from.
I decided to watch the pilot for this the other night, having very low expectations, and ended up binge-watching 5 episodes in a row. Honestly, I think I was hooked within the first 20 minutes of the first episode.
My advice... Give this one a shot. The Brits Nailed It!!!!

Began as an amazing show. Each season got worse and worse. Must have changed writers, producers, and directors multiple times. I think it was around seasons 5 or 6 where it had just become painful to watch. Spectacularly ruined!!!!

I wasn't expecting much from this. I hadn't heard anything about it and really expected it to just be a low-budget stinker. I really like shows and movies about organized crime so I gave it a shot. I was very wrong. First, don't listen to the reviews saying it's too slow. It's not. It has plenty of thrilling moments. The story is very well written and tells a story of organized crime on a GRAND scale, taking you all over the world. The acting is very good and the cinematography is gorgeous! This series is not like a James Bond flick. It actually reminds me more of THE NIGHT MANAGER starring Tom Hiddleston.
I highly recommend!

I'm so happy to see other countries coming out with new series of this caliber. It seriously rivals anything you'll find on any American or British channel. The story, acting, directing, music, and especially the cinematography are all on the same level as an HBO blockbuster series. Actually better than most! I was hooked in the first 5 minutes. I HIGHLY recommend this show to pretty much anyone! (Except kids)

I love these kinds of shows and have wanted a series about Templar Knights for a long time. It's not a bad show. Good production value. It's just that the story is pretty silly and the characters are all annoyingly STUPID!!!! It pretty much just boils down to bad writing. What a disappointment!

A Masterpiece for EVERYONE!!!!

I'm writing this review for anyone like me who wouldn't usually consider watching shows of this sort. Family/Teen/High School drama series or movies don't usually interest me. I admit to being your typical man who usually gravitates towards action or darker series like Vikings, The Walking Dead, GOT, etc... I read that this series had a bit of mystery to it and that is what persuaded me to take a look at it. To be honest, I expected to lose interest pretty quickly and shut it off. NOPE! It took this show about 15-20 minutes to suck me in and it just never let me go. I'm about 2/3 of the way through and can't wait to binge watch the rest of it. I won't really go into what it is about. The general plot is given right in the description. I'm 43 years old, married, and expecting my first child in a few months. (a girl) Maybe expecting a daughter is what caused me to get sucked into this series. Maybe it's because I had a VERY tough time making or keeping friends when I was growing up. I was a very socially awkward kid. Regardless, I think this series is something that everyone will be able to relate to in one way or another. The writing is outstanding. The actors playing the kids, as well as the parents and school faculty were amazing. Some of the best acting I've seen. EVER! They hit every nail on the head. From the atmosphere of the school to the different types of kids in it. From the over-protective or naive parents to the well-intentioned, but clueless faculty. I found no aspect lacking or over-done. Acting-10. Story-10. Production-10. Music-10. It truly is, in my opinion, as close to a perfect series as I've ever seen. What I'm saying is, it doesn't really matter if your looking for a great story, a thought-provoking series, a good mystery, to learn about or remember what kids are dealing with growing up or in school. I believe this really is a series for EVERYONE. (Man or woman, any age, no matter what kind of person you are or how you grew up.) If you think about it, that's pretty rare. Keep an open mind. Give this series a shot, no matter who you are. It is amazing!

I am a big fan of period piece/action series and movies. For years I said that what we needed was a darker and more serious pirate movie, instead of the comic Pirates of the Caribbean movies. The I find out that STARZ was giving us a series. Even better! I was so excited for it to premier. Finally it was here and after watching the first season I was a bit disappointed. It wasn't bad, but wasn't as good as it could be, almost like the studio didn't know if they really wanted to commit to it. Still better than most of the junk on TV today. Then came the second season. It got much better and began to intrigue me. The pace began to pick up and I became much more invested in the characters. The pirates were heading out to sea and not just hanging around on the island. Season three rolls around and , HOLY CRAP!!!!! The series just explodes off the screen. The writing was outstanding. The action AMAZING! Constant twists and turns. Black Sails became the rare kind of series where, after each episode, I found myself sitting there thinking, "WOW, this is an amazing series!" Season 4 is even better. The last episode I watched was season 4, episode 9. It was a MASTERPIECE! I was thinking about it for like 24 hours after. Tonight I'm going to watch the series finale. I don't Know if I've ever been so excited to see a single episode of a TV series, maybe not even on GOT or Vikings. Sadly, this will be the end, but the last two seasons have been so outstanding that I'm OK with that. This series never really got the publicity it deserves. I find that many people I talk to either haven't heard of it or haven't seen it. If you get a chance to watch it, my advice is make sure you stick with it. You will not regret it!!!!!
