Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010)

I had hope, but is more a childish family movie

The idea of the movie incorporating Greek mythology and all the known characters we learned in 7th grade is a great idea but everything about the movie was not stellar at all. The acting is mostly by teenagers who over act and in some places is very annoying, the script did not make it easy for them as it made them sound silly. One positive note is the CGI and graphics very really cool throughout the movie.

However, it is more of a family film, no swearing, no sexuality not much violence even though it should have had better action scenes and it just did not live up to the movie's potential. It may be worth a look but its not for an adrenaline junkie or a big blockbuster type movie either.

From Paris with Love (2010)

An entertaining, adrenaline rush with a great twist!

I really enjoyed this movie. It first came out in February hoping to attract viewers in the romantic month with the title of From Paris with Love. It came out on DVD earlier this month as it should be called a summer blockbuster. The acting was awesome, the action scenes, explosions, speed of the movie, twists and ending was all awesome. Many people don't like John Travolta but he was a sick bad ass CIA character in this movie. You will really enjoy this if you like guns, explosions, a little bit of romance, and an overall great entertaining experience but THATS WHAT A MOVIE IS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE!!! It was a great movie that i recommend to all audiences that can handle normal action movies as there was a low number of swearing, brief sexuality and about drugs but the movie is worth it! Its one of the few that i tell people about!

The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009)

This series needs to actors except for the character of Jacob

If i hadn't already seen the first one and hadn't bought into all the Twilight hype because i am in college i would have really hated this movie. I can see why people live and breath from this series of movies but it really is not that good. The acting is sub par, the romance is comical, there was absolutely no action in the first two movie. The only thing cool and a little bit of the CGI used in this series. People like Robert Pattison better than Twilight and as a college guy i personally think Jacobs character in the movie is a better actor, is more enticing to viewers and is not annoying like Edward is.

If you haven't seen the first one and know nothing about this series honestly you probably wont like the series and will not like this movie as it is a very teenage type drama that is actually very boring in many parts of the movie. Also, it may be better watching it with a girl since she may be able to help guide you through the movie.

The Book of Eli (2010)

An interesting look at a great journey with Denzel

It was a very calm and good paced movie but it keeps you entertained with the right amount of action, right speed and a great cast. I love Denzel and Milk Kunis played an excellent co starring role. Denzel is a true bad ass as this post apocalyptic movie shows us the real dangers of something like this happening.

I really enjoyed the movie. There is some disturbing scenes, no swearing, some inappropriate sequences but not nudity or romance like that. It was one of the movies that you think about after. I recommend watching it on a slow weekend afternoon as it is almost in black and white and is a movie that is a slow ride but is very enjoyable that you know he completed his journey. Amen

Iron Man 2 (2010)

A great blockbuster action movie to kick off the summer

The sequel in the Iron Man series is one that is very welcoming, original for a second movie and a great blast of a movie to kick off the summer right. It was a lot of fun, there WAS a great villain, awesome action scenes with likable characters. The movie was a perfect length at about 2 hours but some scenes I felt could have been left out and even a character as well. As Scarlett Johanson is very attractive her character could have easily been never put in because there is no real importance even though it was refreshing and she brings the sex appeal to the movie goers.

I really enjoyed the movie and it is actually a worth while sequel to an eventually long and spread out series in the future. This second film was an exiting experience that had comic relief in certain parts of the movie. It is not full of action but when there is, it is very cool as the special effects are awesome. Overall, i recommend all movie fans to see this movie. It is a great time, not really any swearing and suitable for the kids of all ages.

Shrek Forever After (2010)

The Shrek series is done, but don't be surprised if there is a fifth one.

After a full decade, the popular Ogre series is finally coming to an end. The ride was a great experience but did come with some bumps along the way. The first one was a classic that many still have on VHS like myself, and the second one was a welcoming sequel that also became a classic. However, in 2007 the third installment came in where many people did not like it at all where Prince Charming was not a liked character at all. It was a bland story and seemed like a bridge type movie just to get to the fourth one. The last one Shrek Forever After in my opinion was a pretty good final installment. Shrek began having many problems and issues like many new fathers have and cannon handle it. He just wants to get away from everything just for a day but of course everything goes wrong. After the sort of annoying beginning it was a great story and ended really well reminding us of interesting points form the first movie. Overall, even though it was offered in 3D it was not a great 3D movie. Yeah the characters and scenery stuck out like it was in in HD but there was no real distinct WOW points that looked like something was jumping out at you. In the end, it was cool to see in 3D but if your not the biggest fan, and want to save a few bucks then you can just see the regular. It was a great era of Shrek where they are ALREADY talking about a fifth installment about Puss in Boots.

An awesome look at what his 50 concerts would have been like.

Watching this movie months after it came out still appealed to me even after all of the hype and drama has calmed down. It was an awesome experience watching this movie. Coming from a young teenager I was not around during his "prime years" and was a fan but not a huge fan of MJ. This movie makes me want him still to be here and to still have those concerts that i would really like to attend.

The movie is a documentary style film on the King of Pop that is inspirational, eye opening and an overall great experience. There was no in film interviews that slowed down the movie nor was there any background information on his life, family and personal life. It was solely on his concerts, his love for everyone and his passion for music. I really enjoyed this film coming from a guy who watched it with his mother and girlfriend I now want to listen to more of his music and learn as much as i can on such an influential man of our music history. He is as famous as Elvis and ironically actually at one time married Elvis's daughter. Overall, i recommend this movie to fans and non fans who gets to have an inside look on what would have been one of the greatest 50 concert series ever! See this movie!

Training Day (2001)

raining day was pretty good Sunday night entertainment for my family and I. After watching this movie I am not sure if this met my expectations of this movie even 9 years after its release. Alonzo(Washington) and his role really makes me wonder how corrupt and crazy our law systems and society is in the streets and the suburbs. The movie was a pretty long two hours but it kept you in it so it did not feel like it was dragging. Many people say they are unhappy with the climax or the big turning point but i was content with the ending if that helps at all. Everything was realistic, the actors were awesome and the movie really makes you have a connection for whats going on. It is sort of a movie where you actually have to pay attention and it is not predictable unless you ruin it for yourself. Overall, I do recommend seeing it, I have the DVD where I am not sure if I will watch it again anytime soon but it is a movie Id like to watch a second time to see what I missed thats how much was involved in this movie

Planet 51 (2009)

Definitely a kid's movie, sort of dull, but overall entertaining.

Hi everyone! As a young adult watching this I would give it a 6.5/10 because it wasn't awesome but it wasn't anything to suffer through.

Many times when an animated movie such as Planet 51 comes out like this one in a month that is not the prime summer movie months, it typically doesn't do too well at the box office. Like similar movies of this platform, this movie didn't reach the top 3 over any weekend. I waited until it came out on DVD to watch and am confused on my overall thoughts.

It was a very dull and a feel of the movie dragging at many times. I still enjoyed it as it was sort of entertaining. The visuals were alright as the characters looked clay-ish. There were only a few lines that made me chuckle but were the lines that were intended for the adults who are accompanying their children. The whole story was of course predictable but their was no real big climax or down falls that makes you connected or you can relate to any of the characters.

In the end, It is entertainment, the character voices were pretty good and the visuals were up to par. I would not recommend watching this but it wouldn't hurt to watch this as it is not terrible or a bad movie at all just a little dull.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2010)

A entertaining ride through one year of middle school.

I went into this movie with an open mind going with my girlfriend and her 8 year old brother who really wanted to see this. I knew it would be a portrayal of how movie makers makes middle school seems but since it is a movie it was pretty funny. The leading stars were very likable as I was smiling basically the entire time. It was a rather short movie but enjoyable that goes through one full school year showing how tough it is for this one individual and how hard he tries to become popular. The main character Greg Kind of comes off as a rude and full of himself pre teen student as he tries to change his bestfriend who is a little chubby and a funny red hair goofball. He becomes more popular after a certain incident which causes an argument between the two childhood bestfriends. Overall, It was enjoyable for the whole family including adults, teenagers and of course the children. There was no cursing or sexual content which was pleasant in this movie. The parents are likable as well as they are actually suportive unlike other movies but the older brother is of course an annoying, punk rock wannabe who picks on the younger brother which gets old quickly. In the end, I was happy i went to go see it but not to sure if I recommend it but definitely if you or your children has read the books. Its not bad but not the best book to movie series or children's movie either.

Alice in Wonderland (I) (2010)

Pretty visuals, but was a good experience

The movie was pretty good. After reading the other reviews i found out that the movie was originally supposed to be in 2D but later they converted it into 3D. This makes it not the best 3D movie but the things that were added are pretty cool. A few new elements and characters are added from the book but are for positive side. The story is very interesting and does not drag on at all. My girlfriend and I enjoyed it a a lot where she read the books and was a little weary it didn't exactly stay true to the story with the new characters and added features to spice up the story. The visuals were awesome, it wasn't boring at all and i am glad i went to see it. It has made a lot of money and i would suggest seeing it.

Sorry to say but Yes, I have to mention the Paul Blart Movie. I thought this would be a similar movie to that one and with all the hype over it even though a year later i would give it a chance. It was in Redbox for 1 DOLLAR so there was no risk. This movie was not what i expected. It game very awkward comedy from the likable Seth Rogen who I am disappointed it. Yes it was a different role but it was very boring as the movie dragged on. It was very uneasy and smooth film where the F BOMB or sexual humor was in almost every or every other scene. It is definitely not a family friendly movie where some families may like it but for children or people who take offense to crude humor will probably not like this unpleasant and disturbing movie. It also seems weird that Anna Farris kept her top on where they showed this ugly mans junk many times. I would not recommend this movie to someone looking for an upbeat movie but it does give some knee slappers but only if you like stupid comedy
