Jupiter Ascending (2015)
One of the biggest disappointments of the year
First let me say that I generally love complex sci-fi and that includes the Matrix trilogy but this was awfully conceived. It had a few good ideas but the cut/edit and dialogue was terrible. Eddie Redmayne was particularly poor with a badly mangled impression of Voldemort with the vestigial elements of Stephen Hawking - He seems a very limited actor. The plot was also very generic and flowed very badly due to the stilted predictable dialogue. I usually like both Channing Tatum and Kunis but this was far from their finest hour. The effects also seemed way below par, while some reminded me of the second Matrix film they felt quite dated. Overall I really wanted to like this but it was a big fail and only worth getting on bargain basket DVD rack.
The Lorax (2012)
So misses the point and changes the story too much
The songs were abysmal, the story was changed too much (It was barely recognisable). I loved the original story (used to scare me as a kid), but the full length 60s feature was fantastic with amazing songs - the songs in this were the worst in any film I've seen in a long time (worse than the updated Willy Wonka!!). Still not the worst film ever on its own merits - just a terrible adaptation.
The voices didn't seem to work very well either -and they felt they needed to add in a romance and even - shock - show what the Onceler looked like - the whole menace and charm was that you never see him. Such a shame that this looked like a committee had got together and tried to make something THEY thought kids would like. 5.5/10
Coffin (2011)
Not worth the £1 you will pay for it on DVD
The first thing to say was the acting was terrible, particularly the main bad guy and the woman in the coffin. I know some of it was down to the direction but anybody who makes Sarbo look like a true thespian must be bad. The story is all over the place and very badly filmed. If they truly spent £600,000 on this I would love to know what that was on, it feels and looks like a very cheap movie.
The main bad guy was so camp I was going to call him "hi de hi" but I love that show. The plot holes in the story would have me calling it Camenmbert - very cheesy.. Don't waste your money, if you have to see it wait until it's on a 12 o'clock showing on a TV channel that has no budget. For all my criticism I have seen worse.
The Cleveland Show (2009)
terrible
two of my top 10 favourite shows are American Dad and Family Guy, but this is in the bottom 10 of all time, it really is so bad I would rather sit on a wooden pole for an hour than have to watch an episode again!!! What happened?? How did it go so badly wrong, and who's payed for a second series????
Also the fact that the series is racist against both whites and blacks doesn't cancel that out.. But to be honest that's a small issue for me, the main problem is just the terrible lack of comedy or even anything resembling a storyline.. Cleveland wasn't my least favourite Family Guy character for no reason!!! He isn't even one dimensional!!
Criminal Minds: Coda (2011)
worst episode EVER!
This was the worst episode ever. It had every cliché in the book (the episodes have been getting worse and worse in my book over the past 24 months anyway, but this was a new low). The acting was also bad and the JJ replacement hasn't got 1/10th of her charisma, they only have her because she is attractive... and the silly subplot with Prentiss is beyond a joke!!! This used to be my favourite series :-(
I hope that the series will pick up as my partner will no longer watch them as they have deteriorated so much, if they can't buck the trend they will have to end the series I would imagine as other great shows like Monk hit that when the writers had given up.
Having worked for years with autistics the portrayal of them was terrible as well!!!
