Jersey Shore (2009)
trash talking
A fair amount of the trash talking, and joking about what a "f**ked up" place it is comes from these people. So let me give you a short bio of the show, guidos come to New Jersey, trash the place, then get their own TV show, and then New Jersey gets joked about because of it, only because people don't bother to do the research to know that most of the cast isn't even from New Jersey! Does that sound fair? NO! I won't stand for this, the people who ruin my home town, and those surrounding, who pass out drunk in the streets, urinate in public, start fights, break stuff, They get their own show, on a famous network live MTV, and kids will watch this and think "hey that looks like fun, i should go to the jersey shore and do that!" In the end, the show is nothing more than a glorified documentary about the guidos who destroy my home state, who i have to deal with first hand. And it's been called "awesome"....It makes me sick to my stomach. It'll pass, but, no matter what, it will always be New Jersey that's the joke, the victim of the situation, and not the cause. Politicians from New Jersey forever damned to not be taken seriously by any others. And nonstop jokes about New Jersey from people who probably haven't even ever been to the state. Kids will look up to these people and think they're cool. Adults will find it entertaining and laugh at it when it's really quite sad, and to us, the citizens of New Jersey, the people who actually live there, will be forever enraging.
The Walking Dead (2010)
Very Good
The plot so far remains largely faithful to the original material while the newly added and well acted scenes contribute additional depth to even the most minor of characters. There's no doubt that Rick's awakening into a zombie apocalypse will draw comparisons to the opening of Danny Boyle's '28 days later' but there the similarity ends. The entire series is reminiscent of George A. Romero's earlier work, from the shambling hordes of undead to the frightened and unstable survivors that often prove to be the greater threat. You Will enjoy this one. Today AMC ordered six episodes of the show for its first season, making me one very happy nerd.
Brüno (2009)
Brüno is hilarious
Sacha Baron Cohen must be one of the bravest men in comedy today. To openly taunt terrorists, violent homophobes and right-wing religious zealots must require a pretty solid backbone. Despite the danger he seemed to put himself in quite regularly, he didn't visibly flinch or hold back once.
Some scenes are clearly staged - including a notable scene with a 'swinger' and her belt - but this is made pretty obvious, and I see no reason to believe that any of the important set-pieces were anything other than genuine.
Brüno is hilarious, and if, like me, you are a doubter, then I can only suggest you try it for yourself. You are unlikely to be disappointed.
Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)
The script is just awful
This movie is the worst Resident evil, it is so Cheesy, I just can't understand why people give such a good reviews, because I went to the movie yesterday and I laughed out of disappointment mostly. The script is just awful. Mistakes everywhere. Zombies and ...people pop out of nowhere and everywhere. Shooting but leaving no dead corpses around. In the beginning Milla actually becomes normal human again but still survives jet explosion somehow. People i beg you not to go to see this movie and support such a bad organization of really good game series. Do yourself a favor and try the game. The game makes a lot more sense and the plot is much better. I give this movie 1/10 because it actually worths just 1. I hate all the people who give more, because they mislead other people into buying a ticket and watching such a disaster.
The Final Storm (2010)
arrogant in the face of audience reaction
There's no real point in discussing the movie, if that's what it is. Just because you see moving images when you press play doesn't mean it's a film. There's money here, you can tell, which makes it even worse. So many daring, imaginative filmmakers out there would love to have had this budget. But no, Boll is given yet another project to insult moviegoers. When Boll makes personal appearances he does get crowds, people just love to have their photo taken with him and get his autograph. I'm personally offended by this practice in that it only encourages him. Truly bad movie making should not be praised or encouraged. There are bad films out there that are fun, we appreciate the effort, especially if the filmmaker was sincere but fell short. But this is just another example of a man's insistence on his talent, confident in his abilities, arrogant in the face of audience reaction, time after time. I see in the trivia he blames the script. OK. This mess should come with a manual and some sort of medication. Boll is making Zombie Massacre due out in 2010. May God Have Mercy On Our Souls
If you must see this movie, do yourself a favor and wait until it's in the bargain bin at the video store. If there's any justice in the film industry, one of the main actors will be there to rent it to you.
Darfur (2009)
The acting was absolutely dreadful
This movie is the biggest waste of nine dollars that I've spent in a very, very long time. If you knew how often I went to the movies you'd probably say, that's hard to imagine, but never-the-less, it's true! After seeing the trailer for this movie, I knew that I had to see it! If you're a fan of horror, mystery, and suspense, why wouldn't you? The trailer is nothing less than intriguing and exciting; unfortunately, the movie is none of these.
From the cinematography, to the script, to the acting, this movie is a complete flop. If you're reading this, planning to go to the movie expecting some thrills, mystery, action, horror, or anything other than a waste of an hour and forty-five minutes I'm afraid you are in for disappointment.
"Why is it so bad," you might be asking yourself. Let me tell you. The movie was neither mysterious nor suspenseful. Nothing about the movie made me the least bit "on edge," frightened, or curious. The script was at best laughable. There were numerous times throughout the film where the dialogue was just so ridiculous I began to write it off as comic relief only to find out a few seconds later that it wasn't. The acting was absolutely dreadful.
Stoic (2009)
Terrible
Before I go any Further, I would like to say, I have seen far worst than this! House of the Dead, Battlefield Earth and FearDotCom are just a few that I have seen. When watching this film, I was lost when trying to Figure out the above films were rated better. House of the Dead was probably the worst I have seen and its still rated better. Alone in the Dark isn't amazing. It wont live long in the Memory for some but it deserves a lot more than 2.0.
If you are unfortunate enough to be in a theater where this movie is showing, and you don't pass out, you'll laugh at what are supposed to be frightening or suspenseful moments of the film. The implausibility of several scenes will just stun you, conveys the feeling of anyone who pays to see this. If you must see this movie, do yourself a favor and wait until it's in the bargain bin at the video store. If there's any justice in the film industry, one of the main actors will be there to rent it to you.
The Dead Outside (2008)
Avoid this at all costs
Written by Kris R. Bird and Kerry Anne Mullaney Directed by Kerry Anne Mullaney Featuring Sandra Louise Douglas, Alton Milne, Sharon Osdin 2009 – Scotland
Its that story we've heard before – a virus runs rampant, affecting most of the population. It either turns you into a maniac or a living virus carrier. Either way you're doomed. Individuals who have escaped getting infected band together and try to survive while dealing with the breakdown of civilization, society, and their own relationships. The Dead Outside, feature debut of Kerry Anne Mullaney, is set in the bleak, desolate frigid rocky landscape of rural Scotland. As if living in a hellhole like Scotland wasn't enough, survivors Daniel and April must also contend with weird wandering lunatics who have had their brains turned into mush by the infection. The infected are unpredictable, violent, and angry...
Daniel runs out of gas on a lonely road in farm-happy countryside in the aftermath of the horrific epidemic that has made crazy folk of everyone. Unhappily, he goes on foot to the nearest farm house, where he meets April – a scared, angry young woman who isn't afraid of using her shotgun on anyone who tries to jump the barb-wire protection she's erected on top of the stone wall surrounding the farm. She's all alone, and even once she sees that Daniel is one of the uninfected, she's reluctant to let him inside the confines of her enclosure. But she does.
Eking an existence from chicken eggs, chopped firewood, and digging futility at the muddy Scotland horse-manure ground that passes as soil, Daniel and April spend frenetic days not really getting to know each other better, but without any other options.
Unfortunately the actors themselves suffer from what I call 'watching my sister act syndrome' where I'm very aware that they are putting on a performance. That said, other people don't suffer from it when watching my sister and it may be the Scottish accent that I notice more (I'm Scottish).
Avoid this at all costs
