family guy: something something something dark side
6 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
My first reaction to this film Family Guy: Something Something Something Dark Side is that, I thought this movie would be just like their T.V. show and will be funny as usual but I thought wrong. It seems that that they focused much on how would they tease the movie Star Wars and lost sight on making it ridiculously funny. Their randomness were the biggest impressions that they had on me and it is also the main thing that really jumps out from the film. It is like they are talking about something then one scene will come up related to the words that they used but not related to the story that they are talking about.

The movie was not that interesting but just really entertaining. It is just entertaining because the film is random. The major characters are Peter Griffin as Solo, Lois Griffin as Leia, Chris Griffin as Skywalker, Stewie Griffin as Vader, and Brian the dog which is also part in Griffin family as Chewbacca; so does Meg as the Giant Space Slug but in this movie she is not important at all. Well, in their T.V. shows either, she's not. The movie is just the parody of Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. If you know the movie Star Wars Episode V, you will get the humor of it, if not then, sorry. This movie would not make you laugh at all.

The background were in space mostly, with big triangular ships firing lasers and Comets floating around. The two scenes that made me gag was when Vader cut Chris' right arm and fell from the hole for about 3 minutes of the film and asks the mechanic if he found his hand the mechanic said he did not but you can see Chris' hand on his crouch. A green joke, I know but it is a funny scene and when Solo punched Leia out of nowhere then swear.

All in all, this movie is not funny, rating it 1-5 I'll give it a 2, for just their effort of making this film. You can only laugh in this film from either violence or just swearing when the jokes are weirdly out of place. This is just not the family guy that I used to watch. It is terrible.

Anchorman
21 March 2010
My first reaction to the film Anchorman when I saw it, I thought this movie was lame and boring but then after I saw the entire film it was really funny. The impression that the film had on me was it's stupidity and , at the same time it was really hilarious. The theme that really jumps out of it was how guys express their manliness.

The movie is really cool and funny as the character's lines are really random, especially Brick's dialogues. The major characters are Ron Burgandy, which was played by Will Ferell, Veronica Corningstone played by Christina Applegate, Brian Fantana played by Paul Rudd, Brick Tamland played by Steve Carell and Champ Kind is played by David Koecher. The movie is about four anchorman that are number one rated on T.V. news. They are very manly in every way. They need to be well dressed, need to have an eloquent speech; from their mind it is eloquent but on reality it is stupid, and the most important thing for them is their hair. Everything is going quite well until they got mixed up by a woman and their boss put her as Ron Burgandy's co-anchor. From that point, their manliness went down and messed up.

Some background scenes were really unrealistic. Just like how the dog got kicked by some guy that Ron Burgandy had an argument on the road, went down on the river and is still alive. It is really crazy. The scene shots are simple but well framed. The cinematography did look quite well for a movie of 70s. The camera angles, the backgrounds scenes and how the director cut the film and changed the background eagerly after the scene was made were really nice and well filmed.

All the actors and actresses gave out their best performance just to make this movie really funny. In this movie you'll notice that everything is exaggerated. The lines were delivered and acted very exaggerated.

The film really got me laughing. It is stupid and hilarious. I would definitely going to recommend this movie to my family and friends so, they could have a laugh from it. Comedic films are really good movies because through this people would really have a time to stop thinking about the dilemmas that they are currently facing but just to have their time to smile and just to relax.

Children of Men
7 March 2010
After I watched the movie Children of Men, I became a fan of it. The movie was so good and while watching it, I felt mixed emotions. I feel so sad and quite happy. The major impression that the movie had on me was how amazing it is. The movie was so intense that I crumpled the paper that I was working on my class. The background of the movie was great, it symbolizes hope, chaos, faith etc; Every angle of the movie has some deep meaning out of it and how the actors or actresses carries their roles for more than 10 minutes without cutting it and just continuously shooting the film. This movie is so professional.

The movie is really interesting. The major characters are Theo, d journalist; Julian, Theo's ex-wife; and Kee, a young black woman who turns out to be pregnant. Every characters/actors in this movie gave out their best performances to turn this movie out so good and real.

Children of Men is about how the world collapse and only Great Britain stood still, how immigrants suffer consequences from migrating illegally, and about how people suffer from an epidemic of infertility; which means they are the last human specie in the entire universe but after all of these stuff that is happening there is still hope in everyone's mind and heart that one day everything will be alright. The background of the movie and the way that its characters interacts with it conveys the film's main idea. Not losing hope and still having faith to God.

The film has some visually interesting thing too. One background scene of the film said something about uprising, and you can see the people on the same scene background revolting and fighting against the army of Great Britain. The tracking shots of this film are very well done. Everything looks very well polished and interesting. The actors are great too, they did took their job very seriously and did a great performance in this movie. As the movie rolls you can never tell what's the most noticeable or lacking part of it. Every angle was clear and you just can't foreshadow what's going to happen next.

This movie is fantastic. An epic. One of the best movie of all time. From the cinematography to how the story goes. It is very well done. I would recommend this movie to my friend or family because this movie has a message and would make them think about these kind of situation.
