Sybil (1976)
"Sybil" a MUST SEE on DVD
It's unbelievable that its been almost 30 years since "Sybil" was originally telecast on network television. Equally unbelievable is the fact this movie has not yet been released in DVD format. "Sybil" is a riveting motion picture for many reasons. This is one of Sally Field's more versatile performances and in my estimation one of her best. What makes this movie even more compelling is the fact it's based on a true story. For those who have not been fortunate enough to have seen this movie, and those who appreciate the acting skills of Sally Field... I urge you to question WHY this movie isn't in DVD format.
And this movie isn't limited to the fine acting skills of Sally Field alone. A great supporting cast is included as well.
Munster, Go Home! (1966)
Munster Go Home Retains the Charm
After appearing in 57 of 70 television episodes as Marilyn Munster one would think Pat Priest would have been included in The Munster's FIRST feature length film. There was some lame excuse that she was too old, even though the film was released a year after the series' last episode. Debbie Watson gave a good performance in MGH, but I had a difficult time excepting her as part of the Munster clan.
This, however, did not detract from the film that Munster Charm that came to us for two wonderful seasons on The Munsters. I still loved the film in all its brilliant color. I've just purchased the First Season episodes on DVD and am very saddened and surprised to learn Munster Go Home, the DVD version, is currently out out of print. Munster Go Home is as enjoyable as the series and should be offered to all Munster fans of all ages to enjoy.
Gigot (1962)
(Gigot) A Top Notch Film
Just viewed William H. Macy's "The Wool Cap" and it reminded me of my favorite film "Gigot".
I loved Mr. Macy's performance in "The Wool Cap". But it doesn't compare to that of THE GREAT ONE in "Gigot." Mr. Gleason's acting abilities were TOP NOTCH in this very touching film where he didn't speak a single word. And the music he wrote for this film... TOP NOTCH as well.
Everything in "Gigot" has the touch of Jackie Gleason on it and that is what makes it so very special.
Why this movie is not yet on DVD is a mystery to me.
Return to the Batcave: The Misadventures of Adam and Burt (2003)
True to the original series
I loved this movie. I knew it would be chocked full of camp and silliness like the original series. I found it very heart warming to see Adam West, Burt Ward, Frank Gorshin, and Julie Newmar all back together once again. Anyone who loved the Batman series from the 60's should have enjoyed Return to the Batcave. You could tell the actors had a lot of fun making this film, especially Adam West. And I'll bet he would have gladly jumped back into his Batman costume had the script required him to do so. I told a number of friends about this movie who chose not to view it... now they wished they had. I have all of the original 120 episodes on VHS. Now this movie will join my collection. Thank You for the reunion Adam and Burt.
