The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (2019)
A prequel that forgot it roots
There is much to be said for the production of this series, but they lost me in the first 10 minutes when the 'history' we were told in the original was seemingly thrown out the window or not even looked at prior to producing this.
The original Dark Crystal tells us j"when the Crystal cracked, two new species appeared" the Skeksis and the Mystics. We immediately meet the Skeksis before the Crystal has cracked. I am not even sure when the Mystics first show up in the series.
The destruction of the Gelflings was done to ensure the prophecy that a Gelfling would not 'heal the crystal'.
With those failures to keep with what we already knew, I pretty much lost interest. I have tried to go back and watch, but the story just does not interest me now.
Stagecoach (1986)
Not the John Ford epic
Despite its all star cast, the movie drags. Sometimes it is better not to do a remake of a movie. This third remake of the original classic is one of them. John Ford's 1939 is by far the better movie.
Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable (2017)
New word for this, a 'mockumentary'.
I gave up on the movie about 30 minutes into it. After reading some other online reviews, I didn't feel like watching it any further.
The only reason I give it three stars is the beautiful underwater photography and if you're into it, turn down the sound and watch. Otherwise, skip on by it.
