Failed opportunity to address some real issues
28 May 2021
I have rarely seen a film as dishonest as this one. At times I even found it bordeline slanderous. The film claims to address some of the tenets of psychotherapy but never discusses them in depth. Instead, the replies given by the interviewees are cut into fragments then everything is stitched together regardless of the speaker or of the original meaning. Often this is done to discredit the therapist and make them look like fools unable to give a cogent reply. The director even adds some "special effects" (ripples on the image, words being sampled and repeated) to enhance this! It's both childish and laughable.

Clearly this film has an agenda: therapists are pseudo-scientists who are after your money and nothing more. This is actually stated as such in the short animated features between the interviews, there's no mystery there.

In short: 2 hours that could have been spent discussing some of the main issues regarding psychotherapies were instead wasted in a vengeful and malignant attack in which the viewer learns nothing. Except perhaps never again to watch a film by Sophie Robert.
