Lenox Hill (2020)
Inspiring Glimpse into the Medical System
Lenox Hill is an incredibly inspiring, emotional, and insightful journey into the healthcare system. It is masterfully directed and produced, taking viewers on a journey through the highs, lows, and responsibilities of healthcare professionals.
Here and there you can glimpse some 'acting' for the sake of the cameras but ultimately, the teams they were following were the gold standard of what healthcare should be.
Cancer takes a front seat in the documentary and while it won't be easy to watch, it is an absolute must-see for everyone. I'm so glad I stumbled on this.
This show makes me want to become a doctor.
Surprise (2019)
Underrated gem
Doesn't deserve the low rating. Kept me engaged throughout with lots of laughs. Well worth the watch.
Extinction (2018)
Great Film
If you're not one of the self-proclaimed film critics who likes to nitpick and stupid technical details and you just want a solid sci-fi flick to enjoy you will love this movie.
In my opinion it's among the best sci fi films to come out in the last decade. A refreshing and original plot with a solid twist that will have you questioning whose side your on.
I applaud Netflix on this one and while I know they can do better I hope they continue to put content like this out there because the world sorely needs fresh, original sci-fi stories.
The movie was set up perfectly for a sequel and I really hope we get one.
Time Changer (2002)
Pure Propaganda
There were points in this movie where the scripting was so incredibly propagandistic that I thought they were actually trying to be sarcastic. This movie is the biggest load of crap I've ever seen. I'm an atheist but I don't have a problem with Christianity-themed movies if the story is there but this movie had absolutely no substance. It was literally just a crazed fanatic quoting scripture and flouting ideas like 'Jesus came to earth 1900 years ago'. I can't believe I actually wasted my time on this nonsense.
Mindhack: #savetheworld (2017)
Unbearable
30 minutes in and I had to stop - I rarely do that once I've started a movie. The positive reviewers are definitely fake accounts (having only reviewed this movie) and should not be trusted. I thought I'd give it a chance and it's a half hour of my life I'll never get back.
The Beyond (2017)
The reviews are way too harsh; If you liked Contact give this a try.
I never leave reviews, but I felt the need to voice my opinion on this one because a sub 5 rating is absolutely unwarranted. This to me is classic sci-fi - it's sci-fi that speaks to the human condition and that focuses on the feelings evoked by the prospect of real-life, first-contact. The kind of sci-fi fix you get from movies like 'Contact'. It's not about explosions, or war it's about humans and our place in the universe.
Is everything 'technically' perfect? No. There's a lot that could have been improved from some of the lack-luster characters, to the less-than-ideal focus on the interaction with and nature of the aliens. But ultimately this movie combines a fantastical idea with really great visuals to make a highly entertaining film.
Ignore the pretentious reviews and give this a try.
