Fall (2022)
Much easier solution
Firstly, cell phone reception works up to 2500 feet. But let's assume they already had a weak signal. The solution then becomes:
1. Leave both phones with other person. Hook rope onto the LOWEST remaining ladder rung.
2. Lower as much as possible and make a short jump to the old satellite dish.
3. Have two bottles and take ONE out of bag for yourself.
4. Hook bag onto rope, have other person pull ONLY the bag back up.
5. Other person prepares a text, Whatsapp, etc using the spare phone and then straps it to the drone.
6. She then flies the drone to the ground, in the direction of the wind to ensure it does not smack into the pole.
Done.
Foundation (2021)
It's impossible to turn into a series or film
The books are so nuanced that this series ended up being what I expected - nothing much like the books. If you haven't read the book you will probably like it, but otherwise it doesn't really capture the essence of the written stories. That's ok, this series is its own thing, it's still enjoyable.
Another Mother's Son (2017)
Very powerful story
Very powerful story! Yes the acting was whatever, but the story was very powerful. I'm British and Jewish so I have to say it touched me perhaps more than other films. Certain parts of the film towards the end sort of shocked me with the reality of WWII. Would highly recommend watching this.
Oceans Rising (2017)
So scientifically inaccurate that it annoys me
If the magnetosphere of earth actually disappeared, the atmosphere would very slowly be skimmed off at 100km and above. To cause the ozone to disappear, the process would take millions of years. The ionosphere of the earth might also possibly produce a weak magnetic field as it interacts with the solar wind from the sun, providing yet further protection against a leaking atmosphere. There would be no earthquakes, sudden sun burns or melting of the caps!
Given we have at least a million years to work our how to fix the lack of magnetic field, it's pretty safe to say we would all survive. If the magnetic field flipped polarity, it wouldn't even be a problem.
Brüno (2009)
lot's of shock, no humour
This movie is a big disappointment, and fails to meet the funny witty standard that I was expecting from Borat. All I saw were 90 minutes of profanity, distasteful humour, and content that crossed the line from what is funny to what is unacceptable.
Borat was all about satire, testing how stupid people can be and how far people can be pushed and still be blind to the prank being put upon them. However, Bruno contrasts greatly, it was shocking simply for the sake of being shocking. I found myself quite often sympathising with the reactions of even the stuck up people in the movie - It completely lacked any satire, or if there was satire, I obviously missed it.
He engages with the topics of charity and volunteering, ripping on them, but to what humour? He also has scenes involving the topic of children, which I found somewhat funny, but more so sad and distasteful, and felt it demeaned the seriousness of real life child abuse.
I was left feeling bored and with a sour taste. I'd advise don't go see this if pointless profanity and distasteful humour are not your thing.
