Seabiscuit (2003)
Macy steals show!
25 December 2003
In a movie based on the true story of Seabuicuit and the humans who helped bring him fame, the character who is least likely to be real and the actor playing him is the most outstanding in the film.

Maybe because I live near Saratoga, NY, the home of one of racing's best known racetracks, I found the story of Seabuscuit fascinating before seeing the movie or reading the book. The PBS documentary was a big help in getting me even more interested The movie is well written and well done. I expected that and was not disappointed. William H Macy did an outstanding job as an announcer and radio racing personality. They call him Tick-Tock and most likely is a conglomeration of raido personalities of the day and was written for Macy. He is funny and when he is on he is a hoot. Do not miss him! He certainly derserves his recent Golden Globe nod.

Terrific Movie
9 November 2003
This is a well done movie about family life. It could be compared to The Royal Tannenbaums in genre. I personally feel it is better done, really a terrific movie. For a first time actor, Cameron Douglas did very well. Not surprising when you see how well the other actual family members do in their chosen field! It is about the normal dysfunctual family and then some. There is laughter, tears and it makes you think. I recommend it highly and feel sorry for those who just did not get the movie. It only made 8 million I heard. Pitty those who do no get to see it!

Notorious (1946)
very disapointing
20 March 2003
i was extremly disapointed at the amaturishness of the cary grant and ingrid bergman characters as spies. it was almost as if the devlin character, played very well by grant, wanted ingrid bergman's character to run into problems early. one has to blame the interpation of the great hitchcock as the director, since it was more the actions rather then the script. the key would never have been hidden by a lady in the way ingrid hid it, and she would have been too savy not to know that at a party one usually needs a great deal of wine. it was a goof that bothered me thruout the rest of the movie which was fine. i feel this film is vastly overated as a hitchock classic. many better films of his are out there.
