Bad Acting Drags It Down
22 November 2013
The acting in this show was really bad. I didn't believe these characters or why they would for some reason live together. Why would this couple want to live with a guy who is a total loser, who steals from them, who has no job even though he is old enough he should own his own house by now. I don't understand it. There is no logic to follow in this show. The two guys who live next door were bad too. We are supposed to like and laugh at a guy just because he's mentally retarded and make no mistake about it the way this character was in the show they were definitely saying he was mentally handicapped and we are supposed to laugh at his mental problems. Very funny that he burns himself with coffee I guess? What happened to writing good shows with good characters and having real actors play those characters? The other guy neighbour was also just an idiot. The guy from This hour has 22 minutes who has never been funny and can't act why would you put him on your show? Aren't there more than five actors in Canada? Can none of them be funny? What happened to stuff like Twitch City and Kids in the hall? The show was not as bad as most comedy they make on Canadian channels but the acting really hurt it. Sometimes it seemed like what I was seeing would have been really funny if the actors and characters had been better or more real for lack of a better word. Anyway it doesn't matter since I hear this was cancelled before just putting in my thoughts.

Uninspired and unfunny, unfortunately.

I think the idea behind this show is a good one but the execution could not be going much worse. They are obviously trying to be a mockumentary style show like a Christopher Guest movie such as the famous comedy "Spinal Tap". The characterizations are much too one dimensional though and none of the actions seem very believable, I think it is mostly because the actors are all new and not recognizable which could work for a show like this that is trying to be very much reality style looking but they just don't have the chops of people who are in movies like Spinal Tap, they can't carry scenes and make them funny. The plots are thin and it is obvious where they are going with them very early but the jokes are juvenile and obvious and the actors aren't good or funny enough to make me want to sit through the episodes. The girl who plays a loser is good but the band are one dimensional and the other girl has no purpose at all from what I saw except I guess she is supposed to be super hot so it doesn't matter? I'm 90% disappointed.

Terrible

Hot Box is terrible to put it in just one word.

I hate the acting most they all think they are so funny I want to smack them upside the head.

You're not funny! You can't just do anything stupid and then say it is funny because it is stupid, you know having a ten minute long skit where you talk about how you are lobster man and then saying oops I shouldn't say I am lobster man because I just wrecked my secret identity. That is just boring and you can't be lobster man or anybody else anyways because you are to fat.

Terrible show!!!!

Jeff Ltd. (2005–2007)

I remember this show, unfortunately.

Unfortunately I can remember this show. Jeff Ltd. was a terrible show with above all a terrible performance by the lead character that is what I remember most of all about this show. The plots all involved him trying to trick people into giving him money or trying to trick women into sleeping with him or usually both of those things, all he did was con people and it always backfired because he was very bad at it and thought he was a lot smarter than everyone else when he wasn't. The ideas were only half baked and none of the jokes were funny because the performances were so bad and it was just badly written, you could see exactly where everything was going. I am glad this bad show was booted off the airwaves.

Da Vinci's Inquest (1998–2006)

Awesome!!!

Da Vinci's Inquest is one of the best dramatic TV shows ever produced in Canada on any Canadian networks. First of all the gritty and realistic stories were always captivating and awesome. A big big reason for that was the stupendous acting by the entire cast but most especially by the lead character Da Vinci who was gruff and knew his job really well but was far from perfect and in many ways an anti-hero. The support cast was also awesome even though Da Vinci himself stood out the most. Detective Shannon, Detective Kosmo and Detective Leary were all great actors. Da Vinci's City Hall was still pretty good but not nearly as good as the original Da Vinci's Inquest series. This is an awesome show.
