Reviews
Age of the Dragons (2011)
Decent
I could not disagree more strongly about the review I read about this film. Saying it was not a good film is not accurate at all. 1st knowing somewhat of what can go into a film, this had all of the elements I was looking for. The sets looked perfect. I was not 100% sold on the "ship", but as the story went along, the more it worked for me.
Is it an indie film? Well yes, but it's a good indie film that takes on a genre that is not an easy one to do. I enjoyed the characters and the new take on classic story. At times the Dragons in the film looked perfect - just as good as anything I've seen coming out of Hollywood. The fighting looked legit and you can see that the actors put 110% into this project.
Could I point things out, well sure, but overall I had a good time with this film. It was simplistic entertainment.
Looking forward to seeing what else these guys come up with!
Dawn of the Dragonslayer (2011)
Compare Apples to Apples.
I have never seen people be more hard on a film! For it being an indie film this hits all the points I was looking for. I really enjoyed it, and my wife unexpectedly did so as well. I'm not offering excuses for them, but you have to compare Apples to Apples. One reviewer mentioned the classic "Dragonslayer" from the 80's, which was a really good movie - but the budgets were night and day differences. Dragonslayer had an $18mil. budget and that was in 81'. I've seen a ton of movies that were hard to watch and this was def. not one of them. This hit on all the places they needed to. Writing, acting, and the VFX for good. If you are a fantasy fan, allow yourself to get drawn in and you'll enjoy the film. If you are expecting Dragonslayer, you may not get what you wanted. I gives this a two thumbs up and looking forward to what else they bring in the future.
The Soliloquy (2012)
Nuggets to be found.
For a short amount of time, the film pulls you in with layers of meaning and treats to find. Every time I've seen the film, I've found a new take-away. Though it helps having an appreciation of Shakespeare, it can be a stand alone film. The film is beautifully executed and is a strong sense of what else is to come by this team. From the shots chosen, to the deep acting. It is apparent that it was a labor of love, as they took the proper time needed. The attention given to this film, was shown on screen. It is a film that makes you think, and is very cerebral. The beauty is in the details. Looking forward to more!
What else is next for these guys? Sky's the limit...
