Two sided down the rabbit hole
Well told real story, i believe from both sides. Engaging emotionally but unfortunately its bi-polar and poking the fires of both sides.
No 3rd side. I wish, it would have been totally better. Watching it from Europe, I am scratching my head thinking: this is a vicious loop. The whole time I was watching I was thinking TRAINING PEOPLE. T-R-A-I-N-I-N-G. It was hinted at some point that military training kicked-in in a violent situation, even if it became violent because the police spun it out of control. What is the training the police had? How did they perform against that? Make me a documentary like "Mayday"/"Air disasters"-like an NSTB investigation into an airplane crash. Stop just thinking its the fault of the pilot(officer) or the passengers(citizens). Look the other parts of the system. Where is the airline, the airport, the plane manufacturer, etc? What are the learnings? The legal/judicial side is barely touched. Nothing learned? Just racial vicious loop down the rabbit hole. What a shame, a lost oportunity to tell it differently, it could have been so much better.
5th Passenger (2017)
I backed this, the story was worth it
I found the twist at the end very refreshing, the CGI and music were quite ok, the premise very well made. At times I was thinking: odd the attacks always happen when she is alone... at the end it is all revealed. I expected a sci-fi, so the worse part for me is how poorly done are the pod to pod jumps in zero gravity, a bit more science rigor would have worked for me. I also didn't expect a watertight script. Of course the characters have nearly no depth, but that was to be expected. The captain of the rescue ship was over-acted for my taste, Manu kept doing his funny comments like in ST:VOY which was bittersweet, the rest did well, they convinced me enough. Not a disappointment because I knew what I was getting into, it was good to be entretained by these actors together again simply telling me a good story on shoe-string budget.
