The Witcher (2019– )

CGI worse than Syfy Channel
23 December 2019
This is a disaster, even discounting the hype that it somehow competes with GoT. The acting is stiff, the dialogue is trite, and the CGI is laughable - to name a few problems. I feel like I am watching a made-for-VHS movie chopped into episodes. Where is the grit and grime, the authenticity of the era, anything to convince me I am not staring at green screen acting and make-up effects on par with The Mummy Returns. I can't believe someone here actually gave this a 10 and lauded the production quality as "mind blowing." I guess if you are comparing this to XBOX 360 cut scenes or game play on the PS3 it might relatively be better.

Cookie Cutter Made for TV Crap
5 December 2019
I love apocalyptic stories, especially when they include zombies, vampires, viral epidemics and the like. However, this one just does not measure up. The writing is cheap, the acting is stiff, the directing is bad, it is just an all-around mess. Even the makeup fails. This one isn't even worthy of the SyFy channel. I gave it two full episodes and then went into my history and deleted it. Not sure who is buying media for Netflix, but unless this came from the TV series clearance rack, it was a waste of money!

Devil (2010)

Narration kills it
10 December 2010
What is the point of watching a movie when the narrator tells you the story before it happens? How about instead of telling me the story at the beginning of the movie LET ME WATCH IT.

I get the sense that MNS was worried people wouldn't understand the movie was based on a bedtime story some grandmother told a kid, like some did with Lady in the Water.

The actual movie itself was good. The acting was pleasant. I thought the writing was above average. I would have enjoyed it more had I not known what was going to happen, before it happened, because the narrator told me it would happen.

And another thing, we don't need to be told it is a story about the Devil. We can figure that out on our own from the title of the movie!
