Justified (2010)
Timothy Olyphant's Magnum Opus
One of massively underrated shows, showcasing it's charismatic lead and his silver tongue devil nemesis at the height of their might. Tim Olyphant and Walton Goggins steals every scene they are in and deserves every accolade deserving more. The strength of the show ravels in developed characters, dialogue and tangled web of squabbling motivations where history of Harlan, KY becomes as much a character as humans living in them. ..... "you'll never leave Harlan alive"
Brick Lane (2007)
Beautiful, Thoughtful, Provocative but an outsider perspective into a sensitive soul
This is a film that has deeply touched me and very few does these days. First of all, I liked the movie and I expected a worse handling looking at the lineup. Kudos to the cinematographer for the breathtaking shots of Bangladesh (my a native, so I'm partial here). The effort from the director and the lead cast to remain as authentic as possible is evident and I thank them for it, but what felt to me was an uneven pacing with uncharacteristic moves from all three of it's leads. There are app-laudable reviews and I won't repeat them. In regards to handling Bangla language, only Chatterjee as a native speaker although from India are relatively convincing to us native speakers but both male leads obviously didn't know what they were saying and I must add trying to use the Sylhet dialect was admirable dedication but it's not a language easy to put on. In the end it's evidently a production for Bangladesh from non-Bangladeshis and the minor lack of the cultural heart is felt through the film.....aside that, Thanks for making this movie. It's still a good one.
Strike (2017)
A humble adaptation
I'm a fan of JK Rowling and Harry Potter which obviously might affect the review. But I read all 3 books and found them decent enough to see as a show. The show is well made, the leads are well placed and the chemistry is very good that translates into the screen. Not so much change from the source material. but anyone who is neither a Rowling fan nor read the books before would probably not feel much for this and it's pretty much understandable.
Raajneeti (2010)
Rajneeti- An Epic Tale of Indian Political Families
I've been a huge fan of The Godfather.
I was more skeptical when I brought the movie to watch, expecting a typical Indian copy-paste of Hollywood classics. But after watching through the two and a half hour long movie, I'm more than impressed with the work Prakash Jha don in this. The characters selection was beyond perfect & I felt even the poor driver played his part with proper delivery & contained nothing too far from reality of this continent's political games & situations. The Mahabharat inspired characters placed on modern Indian political war field along with resembling roles of Micheal Corleone (Samar) & Fredo Corleone (Prithvi) can not be called identical. Inter connecting plot twists & the strong used dialogs made the movie an exception of typical Indian Films.
