Inside Man (2022)
Great cast but a terrible let down
I was really hoping to like this show. How could you not with a cast of heavyweights like David Tennant and Stanley Tucci?
Unfortunately, the big names are all the show has going for it. I rated it 5 stars because the actors were great in their own regards as actors. However the writing is sorely disappointing.
Episode 1 starts off with an unbelievable storyline, forcing us to really stretch our imaginations and believe the sequence of events that are central to the show.
Secondly, Tucci's character is loosely based on Sherlock Holmes but does not even come close to the mystery and excitement of Doyle's work. The deductions sound corny and over the top!
Yes, I didn't watch past the first episode but I can't imagine the plot getting any better given my experience so far.
Billions: Hindenburg (2022)
Building up the momentum to the season finale
I enjoyed this episode because it was a win for team Prince and we saw Chuck fall to the ground and lose badly. If he's defeated so easily, what do the next two episodes have in store for us? Who's going to ultimately win?
I also loved the various world war references, including a mention of the Hindenburg.
Cringe moments for me thought was Karl taking photos, and the over-the-top setup to deceive Chuck. Also noteworthy cringe was Taylor's ability to figure out the potential exits and win the day. What an over the top character.
It's these bits of overly 'imaginative' writing that remind me we're back to the familiar Billions of old under Axelrod.
Vikings: Valhalla (2022)
A great series, hope to see more seasons!
I really enjoyed the show. It built on Vikings but had its unique storyline and characters. Too bad its rated so low, mostly because people can't accept the one black character. Invisible men, magic, everything else seems believable by contrast.
