Trom (2022)
Don't mention the whales
You'd be forgiven for at first thinking Trom is concerned with the global trend of increased violence against environmental protestors, but really its just a useful plot for a tourist film partly funded by Visit the Faroe Islands. Cinematography is great tho, but there is no real interest in anything, particularly anything whale related. Shame as its directed by Kasper Barfoed who is responsible for the wonderful Kastanjemanden (The Chestnut Man).
Alien Warfare (2019)
couldn't make it all the way through
Empty of whatever makes films watchable. Made by zombies.
Battle: Los Angeles (2011)
battle for LA
Battle Los Angeles is ostensibly a story of a retiring staff sergeants last day in the marines, and his search for atonement and legacy. Generally cited as the film that marks the transition between Liebsbaums earlier NE o-realist films and his propaganda period, it is widely considered as one of the shittiest achievements in cinema. Heavily influenced by Rawhead Rex and Commando, its central theme concerns passivity as a threat to survival with respect to US global hegemony and dwindling resources. etc etc. Civilian peace-nicks and raw recruits are derided as not understanding the cost of freedom, as in Nicholsons speech in a few good men 'you have the luxury of not knowing what I know'. Increasingly popular as a drinking game - staff sergeant. TOTALLY
Fatal Error (1999)
favourite line
Robert Wagner is the evil boss of Digicron, a telecommunications company with a virus that kills people.
'so you're saying that the software virus has become a real virus that can kill people - that may be medically possible but not possible from my system'
'i'm having to write some new virus software of my own to trap it - it may take some time'
'but it's not going after software, it's killing people'
watch out for the 'i'm into virology' love moment and perhaps first ever film plot to feature death by braille keyboard
