Les chevaliers du ciel (2005)
boring
i saw this movie in DVD. I didn't expect anything good from the director Gérard Pirès and I was, not surprisingly, disappointed. Kind of Besson production (if not), full of wind (wow, fasten your seat-belt, dudes !) like taxi or Michel Vaillant. Sure some nice views but a plot unbelievable, uninteresting, without suspense from the beginning to the end. Moreover, probably those guys are very skilled but they are first useless army men accepting a stupid mission to prove mirage 2000 could be a best seller than F16. Lord of war which treats the same subject - weapons business - with less humor, which is probably the only way to deal with a so serious subject. Watch it for the landscapes and if you need to be proud that France also can still save the world.
Let's Spend the Night Together (1982)
Great Music, Great concert.
I saw this movie for the first time in June 1983 when it was released in France (my God, 20 years already), i was 11. I saw it many times after this. I watched it again this week, for the first time in 12 years and i can say, it's a great movie. Don't know what people expect of it. It's colorful, kicking, music is good, and you can hear some songs never or rarely heard after and before in other concerts. What to ask more? I give it a 10/10.
I Don't understand people (see others comments) who blame musicians' behavior : Keith is like this, Bill is like that... or that we don't have access to the backstage. Who cares?
This movie is a concert and it's a GREAT concert, with no boring conversations, as you can hear sometimes with music in background (the height of bad taste). People interested by History should rather read a book.
Among all the Rolling Stones' concerts i watched (probably all those available in video) this one is probably one of the best, if not the best.
Finally, having a recent DVD version of this movie i can say the picture is nice and the sound is powerful.
To conclude, i should say, subjectively, that this concert is a contribution in the foundation of my being (more or less...). Hope i convinced someone.
En compagnie de Max Linder (1963)
Great movie, but a (very) good "Hors d'oeuvre"
I have seen this one which is sold with another Maud Linder's production (his daughter), l'Homme au chapeau de soie (The Man in the silk hat). The second is a charming movie about Max linder's life, including archive footages and a lot of movies extracts.
"En Compagnie de Max linder" is a set of three movies, "Soyez ma femme" (be my wife, 1921), "Sept ans de malheur" (Seven years bad luck, 1921) et l"Etroit mousquetaires" (The Three Must-get-theres, 1922 ). All three are from the american period. The movies included in the set are unfortunately not full version (all are 30 min about or less instead of one hour each or more). Delightful anyway. What to say : the movie start with a Chaplin's greeting : "To my only professor". The title is not usurped. This guy is a great master. Intelligent humor, no nostalgy, no melancholy, good rhythm always, bad luck, elegance too. He is really one of my favourite gagman, often impressive. Another regret concerning Max Linder. Two movies avaible in VHS only, already old (1964 for this one), almost nothing released in DVD (Be my wife, only in Region1) although his work really deserves to be enjoyed.
