Ray Donovan: The 1-3-2 (2018)
Does No One Pay For Anything On This Show?!
I can't even count the number of times someone orders a drink or buys something at a hardware store and walks out without paying.
I WANT TO LIVE IN THIS WORLD.
Also, they gave us a wealth of character development for Mickey (apparently he used to be a male prostitute)?
Ray Donovan: Time Takes a Cigarette (2017)
Did We Really Need To See Jackson Holt Wipe?
Early in the episode (S05E12), they show Jackson Holt's feet in a bathroom stall. But then they needlessly take it a step further to feature an overhead shot of him on the toilet opening a package of wipes and then a close up of his face as he wipes his ass.
Am I to understand that they had to set up the camera and light three different shots to show this man wiping his ass? I don't expect much from Showtime, but are you kidding me?!
The Vow (2020)
8 Episodes Too Long
I've had it. I can't watch another episode of these entitled rich white people doing absolutely nothing but driving around and talking on the phone.
I tried -- really I did -- but in episode 7 when they spent time showing Catherine Oxenberg using a juicer I just turned it off and read the NXIVM Wikipedia page: so much more information there than what this show has revealed. No disrespect to Catherine: I hope she gets her daughter back, but I just don't feel like wasting another minute of my life on this show.
As far as cults go, I give it 10 stars in terms of how diabolical and fascinating it is; but the show about it is awful and only deserves 1 star (if even that). In terms of documentaries,"The Jinx" is the gold standard by which all other documentaries should be compared.
Otesánek (2000)
I liked this movie the first time I saw it, when it was called Little Shop of Horrors...
Not to say it was a bad film, but there were times when I expected Otesanek to sing "Feed me, Karel! Feed me now!"
Although it was a bit long, I found it to be quite entertaining. A good rental if you're looking for something different, dark, and foreign.
