Stone Pillow (1985)
Would LOVE to find this movie on VHS or DVD
I only saw this movie once, when it first was broadcast. I would absolutely love to own a video of this movie,it is such a departure of what you expect of Lucille Ball. I cried when I saw this movie and waited forever to see it again.
The Music Man (1962)
The best on the Great White Way!
I saw 'The Music Man' for the first time two years ago when I was about thirteen. I thought it was kind of silly and didn't pay much attention the first time I saw it. I love it so much now. I read that the people casting the movie didn't want Robert Preston for it, and I'm so glad that he got to be in it. It just wouldn't be the same without him! In the new Disney/ABC movie, Matthew Broderick was okay, but not great. Also about the new movie, Kristin Chenoweth has a beautiful voice, but it sounds too high-class and operatic for a musical. I think Shirley Jones was perfect for the 1962 film. I've never heard Barbara Cook sing so I wouldn't know if she would have been better. I've been learning all of Marian's songs from this film and I think ALL of the songs are great. I saw 'Oklahoma!' which also starred Shirley Jones, but this was better! I think it is one of Broadway's finest.
