Three Wise Fools (1946)
WORTH WATCHING - ESPECIALLY A GOOD FAMILY FILM
I'm sure, reading the other reviews, you already know the gist of the story! BUT, what I loved about it was the actors and acting! A nice, fanciful tale blending the talent of a young Margret O'Brien, with seasoned actors Arnold, Barrymore, Stone & Mitchell! Just a pleasure to watch, but a bit sad to know movies like this are not being made anymore, because everyone (i.e. The new audience) seems so entrenched in "reality"! If you want a nice family film, or even a "date" film you won't be embarrassed to take your new special someone to, this is it! You won't be disappointed! What talented people these actors were. How Margret O'Brien, in particular, remembered all her lines just amazes me!
Cheaper by the Dozen (2022)
Did anyone read the book?
I'll admit - I only watched the trailer, but that was enough for me! I'm not one for remakes - especially when the originals can't be beat! The 1950 version, with Clifton Webb, Myrna Loy and Jeanne Craine, was wonderful! AND it's based on a TRUE story, and follows the book! The remakes with Steve Martin (who I do like) and now Braff & Union, can't compare with the pure, entertaining plot of the original. There's nothing like real life! When will Hollywood (and Disney) learn?
The Andy Griffith Show: Opie the Birdman (1963)
Terrific Moral Lesson
First, this is a wonderful episode - a great one to sit down with your kids to watch. LIke most of the episodes on the Andy Griffith Show, it's an episode with a solid moral lesson, without being sappy. I watched this episode, yesterday, and couldn't help but feel sad at how far this country has fallen. I'm sure there are still parents who instill the values of responsibility and accountability in their children. But it's hard to enforce those values when you see the politicians, lawmakers, and Hollywood celebrities getting away with a tepid, and obviously hollow utterance of "I'm sorry", in response to an egregious action, only to walk away with absolutly no consequences. When did our country become so tolerant of moral decline? Possibly when shows like All in the Family, Roseanne & The Simpsons made it acceptable, even laudible, to be a non-achiever, instead of aspiring to the great heights & wonderful potential God gave us all!
