Metal Gear Solid is Art
9 December 2009
The Metal Gear Solid franchise is hands down a piece of art. Perhaps one of the greatest stories I have ever experienced. This gaming franchise is the most advanced form of storytelling to date. Aristotle would be proud to see how far story and art have come. If you love stories then you have to play all three games, or at least watch the cut scenes on youtube. You would butcher some of its quality by just watching the cut scenes however. The gamers complaining about this game only complain because there just gamers not artists. Metal Gear Solid a remarkable art piece. Using both film and gaming as its medium. Think of it like a film that's as long as a novel, but you play and also watch throughout the experience. Games are around 8 hours, not 1-3 like films. Gaming is roughly a book which you get some control over as well as get to see visually on screen. If you enjoy art and story, get a PS3, Metal Gear Solid, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4 and play all of them in order. Play them on the easiest mode if you don't play games. 1 is the hardest so if you can't be it. Your option would be to get the remake version Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes on the gamecube, negative is you would have to buy a gamecube or just watch the cut scenes on youtube. Again is you love art and story you should miss this experience. It will change your life.

Mass Effect (2007 Video Game)

This game is the evolution of film
14 May 2009
Mass Effect is the growing evolution of perhaps the greatest thing imaginable. Imagine instead of watching Vertigo, you get put in the shoes of James Stewart and fully immersed into the story. You being give full control to twist the story to your own liking. Getting to decide what the character is going to do and not yet knowing the outcome. Video game maybe a little to new for older generations, but that's a shame their missing out on experiences that are trying to push past film. In fact whats so great about video games like Mass Effect they aren't pressured into a 2 hour time limit. A video game can be as fully complete as a book, but instead of just reading or watching a story you can live it. In Mass Effect you will be leading a your crew members into battle and you will have to make heart breaking decisions. You will build relationships and character with your crew members and when the time comes for you to decide who's life to save and who's not to are amazing moments. This game shouldn't just be considered a great game it should be considered a work of art and gaming is the future of art.

Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather, The Dark Knight
30 September 2008
What is there to say? A Superhero film of a man who dresses up as a Bat and a villain who dresses up like a clown. This sounds childish this sounds like a film doomed to never amount to anything. But instead we get a director who takes fantasy and puts it into a dark realistic film. Christopher Nolan makes fantasy reality and that's exactly what makes this film so remarkable. A takes a film like The Godfather and covers it in fantasy, but the end result is still that same. On of the greatest films ever made, The Dark Knight now stands next to the two most respected films of all-time, Shawshank Redemption, and The Godfather. Personally The Dark Knight is my favorite film of All-time, but I think that's because I'm 20 and The Dark Knight is apart of my generation. Either way it stands right with Shawshank Redemption and The Godfather we all have different beliefs, but I think we can all come to a reasonable agreement that these three film's stand apart from all other film.
