Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
Mild in every sense of the word
Just saw it. My rating:
2/10 story...I hate retcon.
6/10 presentation...Cool effects that will suck in 5 years. Lots of explosions.
6/10 enjoyment...It was mildly entertaining, but popcorn movies need not exceed 120 minutes.
4.6/10 aggregate score.
Comments:
-Way too much comic relief. We have the twins, the roommate, Simmons...etc. The movie borders on absurdity when every actor is spouting one-liners.
-Can't tell the robots apart. For the most part they have no identification at all. I had no idea there was an auto-bot named Jolt until 5 minutes before the movie ended when he saved Optimus Primes life.
-Michael Bay clearly has a hard-on for the US Military. It felt like watching a recruiting commercial every time he showed the navy ships in an absurdly photogenic and strategically unsound formation....as well as the air force.
-Stolen ideas? The Fallen...and the other primes...look like freaking Bionicle guys right down to the staffs. The "doctor" uses a tiny robot IDENTICAL to the one used in the Matrix to get into Sam's head.
-Way too much human vs. robot warfare. I want to see the robots fight! The entire last battle was basically the US Army fighting against Decepticons (and miraculously owning them with weapons that did not phase them in the first film) while the auto-bots hid or something.

Jockeys (2009)
Intense
Yet another surprisingly good drama from Animal Planet, the other being Whale Wars. This show documents the ups and downs of a jockeys life and career as they try to make a living and avoid fatal injuries on the track.
The show has cliché, yet interesting characters: the up and coming young jockey, a women trying to break into a man's sport, and an aging racer looking trying to make a name for himself before his career is over.
I saw it on On-Demand which carries the first couple of episodes, but I believe it is on Friday nights. Check it out.
