The Batman (2022)
Excruciatingly slow
Basically 3 hours of dramatic music and Batman walking in slow mo. None of the characters were likeable, including Batman. Lots of close up shots of Rob Pattinsons teeth, not something my eyeballs enjoy looking at. I was bored in the first ten minutes and bored the entire way through. The kid sitting next to me was more entertaining taking selfies of himself throughout the entire film. Tedious, unnecessarily drawn out, slow as hell and a completely uninteresting storyline. It was no Dark Knight. I have always been a Batman fan but this movie kind of ruined that for me. If they make a second one I'll be saving my time and money by not going to see it.
And Just Like That... (2021)
Was super excited for this one but...
It's no longer a group of ladies discussing sex and relationships that was purely for our entertainment but more preaching to the converted about gender issues. In this day and age, we don't need to watch a tv show preach at us, I watched because I wanted to be entertained. Gender issues and racism should be saved for some other show, not this one. Trying way too hard. And without my favourite character Samantha doing her thing and not giving an eff or apologising for living her life, it's just preachy garbage. Yes, we heard the 10 minute long speech from new character Che that was apparently meant to be stand up comedy? Go stand at a pulpit in a priests uniform next time cause comedy it was not. We are not stupid, we understand gender is a massive thing these days, but we don't need it forced into our relaxing time out tv shows. Just keep it real like the show it always was. No problem with people struggling with gender issues but come in, this was way too much. And then they drag us through the garbage that is Charlottes daughter coming out as non binary. Was that necessary? No! I would have enjoyed it more had they not included the kids stories. That's not what this show was ever about. And then they kill off Big? What the actual? This show should never have been a thing because they completely ruined what was and still is an iconic, amazingly entertaining tv series. Ruined with gender and racial issues and worst of all, opinions of children. Yuck.
Searching (2018)
Half of the movie is google searches
If you enjoy watching someone type on a computer screen then this movie is for you. Halfway into the movie the pace picks up and starts to invoke actual people instead of a computer screen. What was weird for me was how needy the Dad was. If your kid is at school, let her attend school for one entire day without sending her repetitive needy messages every five minutes starting at 7am, who does that? Yes, we get he's a caring father but if that were my Dad messaging me every 5 seconds about literally nothing important and sending 100 follow up messages if he doesn't hear back because I'm probably in class, I would block his number for sure. Sorry to offend, but I he came across as a desperate boyfriend with no life rather than a Dad. It ruined the entire film for me. She's a damn teenager for effs sake. And yes, I'm a parent with a teenage daughter and was also once a teenage daughter. From experience I would have hated my Dad literally stalking me and my daughter would also hate having the same treatment. You have such a great relationship with your daughter? I think not if there is no such thing as trust or privacy or let alone, space. Claustrophobic movie purely because the Dad is such a psycho and I'm not even halfway through the whole movie. Thank god I never owned a mobile/cellular phone when I was a teenager, my parents were stifling enough just being around them let alone them hassling me when I'm supposed to be at school. Creepy Dad vibes all round.
Nitram (2021)
Well done
Caleb Landry Jones played his part extremely well and should be given an award and he pulled off the Aussie accent to a tee. The film gave me anxiety in a few places but that was to be expected given the content/storyline. Quite a dark atmosphere throughout. The whole thing made me sad to think that there are people like this in the world that are beyond help and the people around them who see the issues but are also helpless to change/do anything to stop the decline in the mental health of their loved ones. I'm not sure anything could have been done to avoid what happened. A heartbreaking story for all involved, from the parents to the eccentric old woman he befriends, to Nitram himself, but most of all to the victims of what ultimately took place.
Nashville (2012)
Only downhill from season 5
I'm not a fan of country music but literally had nothing else to watch so gave it a go. Ended up bingeing seasons 1-4. I liked the main characters and the drama they created but every other side/secondary/additional character I found extremely annoying to watch and could not wait for them to exit the show. Especially Layla. I was irritated every time she came on screen to the point where I skipped past every part with her in it but unfortunately she managed to creep around for 2 whole seasons. It was satisfying to see Avery clue up to the truth and get rid of her. That was the k my episode I could watch entirely when she was in it. I liked Luke. Deacon wasn't too annoying. Teddy should have been killed off in the first two episodes. I'm glad his wife was shot. Scarlett is such a weak person I'm pretty sure she has a noodle for a back bone and she got more annoying with every episode thinking she was so much better than everyone else. Juliette was annoying but one of those characters you love to hate until she grows on you eventually and I ended up rooting for her out of all the characters. Will was likeable. The talk show host that was trying to bring him down for being gay was an absolute rabid beast of an animal, it baffles me that she was able to spout such hateful garbage on national tv and still be employed. Jeff should have died a lot sooner than he did.
And then can season 5. From the get go I was bored and frustrated by it. It just drags on. Even the new style of lighting and filters and camera angles annoyed me. They tried to bring in music other than country which the show is based around, I guess to be more versatile but they should have left that to another tv show and stuck to what they knew. Ryan's and Deacon suddenly have no more drama and are just a boring couple acting like they're in a high school relationship. Maddie was unbearable basically from the second season onwards and her singing I appreciated at first but eventually started to sound like nails dragged down a blackboard. Daphne was a copycat version but less of the type of person you would just want to head butt like her sister. Juliette becomes soft and finds god which completely ruins her character for me. I'm one episode past the one where Rayna dies and am considering giving up altogether as I cannot imagine it improves in any way from here on out and I don't have the patience to sit around watching Juliette not be the superstar she is made out to be just because apparently God is a new thing she discovered. And suddenly Maddie and Scarlett are besties when I can't recall them ever having a conversation in the previous seasons.
One of Us Is Lying (2021)
Bored
The first half hour the voice over talks about being bored. I couldn't agree more. The fact that I am agreeing with the character being bored is not a good thing. Another time wasting show that takes twelve episodes to get into the plot and the one episode to rush it all into a finale. On top of that, bad acting, bad script, the same old repetitive, readable, predictable, boring, uninteresting characters with personalities that would bore a darn rock.
I refuse to put my time and energy into this garbage.
American Horror Story (2011)
First 3 seasons were great and then..
They got slack. And boring. And tried to be shocking. And it was obvious they were trying. The writing definitely made a drop each season until here we are at season 10.
Five episodes in I was starting to find my faith in the writing and creating again. It felt like we were going back to the content that started it all. The eerie, slow build up to some crazy twist that all ties in together at the end.
And then halfway through the season they hurriedly wrap up the first story and start a whole new one. A story that is absolute and utter trash and the only conversation between the protagonists are about being allergic to sperm and an a** juice disease. Trying so hard to be edgy but failing in every way. How are we supposed to retain any sort of interest or place any type of value on characters like that? Do we as viewers really come across as that pathetic that we will lap up this cr*p? Garbage. Trash.
American Horror Stories (2021)
Terrible in every way.
Terrible acting, terrible script, terrible stories, terrible characters, terrible actors. What the actual ffffffff did I just waste my time on?
The only thing horrific about this pile is that it is apparently by the same creators of American Horror Story.
I am absolutely baffled that these people think that it is okay to feed us this garbage. Such an absolutely astounding drop in quality compared to AHS. You can see the stark difference by watching AHS Double Feature. The first half is what the viewers signed up for. The second half is literally a continuation of this utter bull cr*p. What an absolute waste of time this is. What an absolute waste of money and time that was invested in this. I am disappointed that this is how the AHS universe has unfolded. Absolute trash. May be enjoyable if you are twelve, severely disabled both mentally and physically and then also shot your self in the head but somehow survived as a vegetable. But pathetic that the adult viewers that made AHS what it is are being reduced to watch such complete nonsense. Avoid for the sake of all mankind. We as a people, deserve better.
The Count of Monte Cristo (2002)
Still one of my favourite movies
I have seen this movie multiple times and also have a copy of the book. I love both. I love the story. Sad and heartbreaking but also beautiful. This movie was done well. The actors were well chosen for their roles. I'm sure I will watch it many more times in futures.
The Wilds (2020)
It was enjoyable
The one massive thing that irked me throughout was the fact that it took them an entire week to attempt building shelter/look for food because they were too busy complaining about past dramas. Honestly, if you are in a life or death situation, some lost love would be the last thing on your mind. Survival being the first. But these girls don't even try to save themselves and that was annoying to watch because I feel most people would in that situation. Also, the fact that they build the shelter mere metres from the ocean is pure stupidity, not only that but it gets washed away so they decide it's a good idea to build another shelter, only metres from the ocean once again. Wtf? And then they literally sit on the beach all day long in the elements (wind, rain, sun) and its just baffling they even manage to survive. There's a whole island there and they barely bother to explore it.
Exposed: The Case of Keli Lane (2018)
Had to turn it off halfway through
Very one sided point of view using paid actors to offer 'new' evidence that the cops apparently missed. Justice has already been served in this case so I'm not sure why this was even necessary to film, the lady is clearly guilty and the argument this doco makes in trying to prove otherwise is so set up and fake that its hard to watch.
Home Before Dark (2020)
Who is the audience this show is aimed at?
Is it for kids? Is it for teenagers? Is it for adults? If it's for all of the above, that ruins it. Just pick one audience and go with that.
The soundtrack is weirdly and almost inappropriately placed and sometimes feels a little preachy.
The main characters older sister was an odd choice in casting. She bears no resemblance to any of the other family members and seems out of place.
The parents do not compliment each other in any way, have no chemistry and you know you are watching two people pretending to be parents and married. Weird.
So far, the mystery is not intriguing enough for me to want to keep watching. I've gotten to ep 3 and it is literally just background noise now.
The Queen's Gambit (2020)
Sooooo slow!!!!
Watched the whole season because I was hungover and that was the only reason. It was terrible. Slow. Boring. Pointless. Main actress is completely unrelatable/unlikeable. Please stop feeding us pointless garbage that is 'visually appealing' and give us some substance for once.
The Last House on the Left (1972)
Terrible
Terrible acting. Over the top. Laughable. For such a serious storyline, the acting ruined it because you know throughout the entire movie, that it's just a movie. No reality to it whatsoever because the acting is so bad. Giggled to myself at the music that did absolutely nothing to add to the horror of what was going on on the screen, in fact, it made it seem like I was watching a commercial for a banjo. Yes, I'll buy the banjo but the rest of the joke of a movie and joke of a horror atmosphere and joke of actors can stay in the dollar bargain bin thanks. Terrible soundtrack. Riled up zero emotions in me besides annoyance. Felt absolutely no pity for the two girls. No anger towards the group of misfits that commit the crimes towards the girls. No pity or sympathy towards the parents of one of the girls. I just did not care. Did not feel it. The acting was so bad, I was actually laughing throughout all the scenes that are supposed to horrify you, and the only horror I found with the whole thing was the pathetic acting and even more pathetic circus music that went with it. I don't care when it was made, I have seen movies from that same decade that are well done, so the age is no excuse for such a terrible movie. The remake is a million times better and actually makes you feel all sorts of emotions such as disgust, pity, sympathy, anger, frustration, sadness etc, like a decent movie should.
