WALL·E (2008)
WALL-E, my new favorite
I got got back from the movie theater, and I must say, it was a surprisingly good movie. I never planned to see it, but now I'm glad I did.
In the future, sometime in the year 2110, mankind shall leave earth, and its cleanup, to WALL-E's, robots that compact the trash. Near 700 years later (year 2815), there is only one left. WALL-E, and his pet cockroach, have an entire planet to clean. Then one day, a ship lands, containing EVE, a new robot, looking for sustainable life. WALL-E tries to befriend the robot, for over the years he develops a personality. Eventually, he does, and shows her his stuff. When EVE sees a plant WALL-E found, she takes it and goes into an unconscious-like state. Later, EVE is recalled. And WALL-E follows her. Then they land on the AXOIM (spelling may be wrong), a ship that contains all of earth's old residents. When the captain sees the plant, he is happy that they may go home. But not AUTO, the ships autopilot. He betrays the captain, and throws WALL-E and EVE down a garbage chute, where WALL-A's nearly shoot them into space. Being saved by M-O, the tired WALL-E, and co. try to save earth again, which does work but nearly kills WALL-E in the process. When they land on earth, WALL-E eventually gets better, and earths cleanup begins.
The movie is a great one, and is worth the ridiculous price at the movies.
Transformers (2007)
Number 1 in my top 10 ( though I haven't seen Iron Man yet)
Okay, so I haven't seen any other Bay movie yet, so my vote might not count as much. But after this movie, I'll see all of his. This movie is easily the best movie I have seen in my life, although I haven't seen Iron Man yet. Just the beginning got me hooked, and I wasn't paying attention. The movie's beginning runs like this:
We start out with an intro from our friend Optimus Prime. He lays out how they got there. Then, we are introduced to Captain Lennox, a military man who just had a baby girl. As night falls, a strange helicopter lands in the military base. Then...
Okay, so I won't spill too much on the plot, but these are some of my thoughts on the movie.
Shia LeBouf is a very good actor. He will grow up to be a great actor.
The subplots were slid into the main plot perfectly. Well done.
Megatron has just the right amount of evil, and has one heck of a voice.
Lastly, having Jazz die was a great idea. Again, well done.
One thing I didn't like was how Optimus Prime acted so wise.
All in all, a superb movie. A recommend anyone over 11 to see it
Super Mario Galaxy (2007)
Crazy Good
Like some other people wrote, I'm a die-hard mario fan, and I loved this game.
This game starts slightly boring, but trust me, it's worth it. As soon as you start, your hooked! The levels are fun and exiting. They will hook you 'till your mind turns to mush. I'm not kidding. This game is also orchestrated, and is beautifully done.
To keep this spoiler free, I have to keep my mouth shut about details. But please try this game! It'll be worth it!
Story: 9.9 Action: 10.1 (It's that good!) Hardness: 10 Attention Grabber: 10 Average: 10
Vantage Point (2008)
My vantage point of Vantage Point
First off, this movie had a lot of publicity. You would expect that with any movie. But with Cloverfield, I wasn't going to take any chances. So I had to check this movie out. After a few commercials ( one for 88 Minues, which look interesting.), the movie starts.
The movie starts out with a woman operating a news station (GNN). It's her point of view. They show the president getting shot. What will really jolt you is when the person broadcasting starts to explain things. In mid-sentence, the stage goes off in a big and load BOOM. It'll scare the heck out of anyone not suspecting it. The lady brodcasting is now supposedly dead. Then Dennis Quaid breaks in and asks to see their tapes. He sees something not on camera, that we don't see, and leaves. Soon afterwards the movie goes back and tells the story of Dennis Quaid. After that, the movie rewinds itself(trust me, I mean it) and tells the stories of the others.
Eventually, you find out the dude onstage that got shot was a double, and the real president is now kidnapped in a ambulance. Some of the stangers, the 8, die, and others help each other. Some are barly used at all. In the end, the president lives and everything is OK.
Vantage Point was a great movie. It had it's twists and turns, it's unbelievable plot holes, etc. But over all, it was a preatty darn good movie. The ending could have been better, and they could have pulled it off with less rewinds, but it was worth a 9.50 ticket in my eyes. Over all, it was worth it. 8/10
Enchanted (2007)
Avoid under any circumstances!
I went home on a Friday night and found out my mom had rented the movie enchanted. I had nothing else to do, so I forced myself to watch it. How bad could it be? Really bad. First off, the beginning had a odd felling and was very awkward. When she finally went to NYC, it was still awkward. In fact, most of the entire movie had a musical feeling and was again, awkward. The evil queen that you see in the trailers only shows up at the very end of the movie. She makes her eat a poison apple, a BIG cliché, and, what do you know, she falls to sleep. You find out that the prince isn't her true love, and Disney tries to pull off an action sequence. Not a good idea. then the movie abruptly ends. Not nearly as good as you would expect. Please avoid at all costs and circumstances!
