If You Like Monk

Big fan of Monk and I came across this on Netflix whilst I was doing other things in the computer.

Love this show so far. Everyone looks like their having fun. I like the main characters and the lead who is having fun with the role and his comedy acting is great.

I can't believe I'm saying this but loving it more than Monk. Light entertainment that you need to just sit, laugh and relax to, doesn't even matter if sometimes your not paying attention to the episode, but now it grabs my attention. Will get my daily dose each day.

Absurd

What an absurd and pointless movie. Sometimes you wish Hollywood would say...This is bloody awful and we should donate all the money to feeding and housing people.

Caught it on TV thankfully. Physics and all science are completely ignored. It literally is as if they were writing it as they filmed it snd just made it all up on the fox

Incredibly stupid. Only watch it if you want to laugh at how ridiculous it is.

Absurd

I watched this 15 years ago and I can remember enjoying it at the time. Watched it again recently.

Okay. I enjoyed it, it is non stop action. I'm not going to say much apart from it is utterly ridiculous and can't believe I thought it was good 15 years ago.

Story, action, the things she does, the stupidity of everyone around her and even her actions. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

If you can put all the ridiculous and implausible things behind you, it's entertaining at least.

Sugar (2024– )

Boooooring

I wanted to and was hoping to really like this. I like good old Colin. The best part about this show is the opening 5 mins. First episode was interesting when he takes on the case. I don't know what it is about this show. It's just incredibly dull.

As somebody else says it's trying to be a cross between LA Confidential and China town but with out the charm, the snappy PI dialogue of old.

I'm going to go watch Maltese Falcon again, it at least inspired me to do that.

It's a no from me.

Next Goal Wins (2023)

A bit flat

I was looking forward to watching this but found myself disappointed. These types of stories have been done a thousand times before and I still enjoy watching the underdog films when done correctly.

This movie just fell a bit flat. I did laugh out loud a few times but the overall feeling for me was just meeeeeh.

Not much else I can say really. Not a trrrible movie, just not a good one that evoked any emotions in me.

Another Good Payne Movie

I liked Alexander Payne. This movie is excellent. Another reviewer says, not much happens, it is about the softening of relationships, understanding each other's worlds. Payne always manages to create a great atmosphere. This had me laughing, I felt joy and sadness. He manages to create a melancholic story as always which for me never borders on depressing.

It's a yes again from me.

If people read this can you not put any of your reviews, 'there's plot twists' and things like that. That is a spoiler so add a warning.

Shutter Island (2010)

Beautiful

Scorsese to many will be know for his gangster movies and he was to me for a while. King of comedy is on of my favourites and Shutter Island. He shows he is a great filmmaker and not a one trick pony.

I have seen this many many times. The music, the atmosphere, the story all perfectly crafted and it needs to be seen more than once.

Not much else to say really, a beautiful film, every single frame.

Likes listening to its own voice

I'll keep this very short, just like the movie should have been. I think QT wanted to create a Laurence of Arabia in the snow. Could have been 1.5 hours shorter. A meandering mess, too much of nothing going on, you can do a crossword whilst watching it.

Should have tightened it up a helluva lot more in script and editing

Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game (2022)

Beautifully Done

Stumbled upon this and I was intrigued, I never knew Pinball was banned. It was a very well made movie, it turned what could have been a boring movie into a fun ride. Well directed, not a boring moment.

I watched something, can't remember what, the subject matter should have written itself but the director made it boring. This isn't boring at all, it's a Gem. Reminded me a little of Tetris and the BlackBerry story. Really enjoyed it.

Enjoyed the ludicrousness

Started of promising and I watched all of it but it is so ridiculous it's unbelievable. I like a good popcorn action flick but Statham in this appears superhuman. Dodging bullets, taking on 5 to 8 armed baddies without a gun. Absolutely absurd but it did help pass the time. Then you have to listen to BS philosophy of the Hive and the Beekeper. Haaaaa. Entertaining enough, but take out your brain and place it in a glass jar for 2 hours

The first Ghostbusters was a classic. This movie is an example of having a good thing and then just trying to cash in on it to make some Hollywood bucks.

I saw remember the day my dad brought home the video and the day I saw the 2nd at the cinema. Good times.

I'm watching 2 on the TV right now. I'm enjoying it but it's ridiculous.

If you have kids, maybe just show them the original.

I admit I gave up after 20 mins. I was looking forward to it, hoping I would spend the next 2 hours and arrive at the end feeling elated.

That's all I can say about it. Dull story, very dull acting. For a movie full of speed, it never captures that excitement. Even the music is dull and fails to drum up any excitement, Dull, Dull, Dull.

A Fun Movie

Expected very little but it was such a fun movie. I forget one of the leads names that was Vince Vaughn's partner but he always brings a sincere element to his movies.

Loved it. Laugh out loud and I'm mid forties. De Niro delivers his lines perfectly, it's a just a bit of silly childish fun. Zac Efron is good. Needed a good laugh out loud.

No Hard Feelings (2023)

I'll say it again. It really is hard to find decent comedies these days, silly ones but not bordering on tooo juvenile. Lawrence is great. It's like failure to launch in some respects or that movie where the parents hire Sarah Jessica Parker.

Really enjoyed it and laughed out loud many times. Nothing new, nothing amazing but enjoyable.

Turned it off after 15 mins

Ooooh jeeesus. What a disappointment. I was hoping for something dark and mysterious. In the first 10 minutes I got stupid, bad acting and a lot more. No thank you! If you grew up when I did and watched the original, you will be severely disappointed. I could write better.

As another reviewer said, they're just trying to make a show with a hot Damien, I'm not even going to wait around for the probable love interest.

I'm fact I might write my own. A Damien that stuggles with who he is, tries to be good but cannot deny his true dark interests?

One of the greatest films

This is on of the best films of ALL time. I watched this at 12yrs old and it scared the life out of me.

The tense music, the action. It is superb. It even ttransponds time as it doesn't really rely on special effects. This Predator is terrifying, it is the Original and nothing comes close,

Arnie at his best, just like Keanu Reeves, don't give him too many lines and he shines.

Interested psychological movie as we all believe this could actually happen. Unfortunately this is not true. This did not happen but it has been perpetuated over the years and it is what I believed too. Read Human Kind

We'd all like to believe human beings turn to animals in these types of situations. Again, it perpetuates the fear and it's a juicy sensational story.

Read up on it and also read up on when a bunch of kids were actually stranded in an island lord of the flies style.

It's decent, not amazing

It's a decent show. I had to give it another try as the first episode is excellent and then it changes into a very slow burn. I gave it another go.

It's not so much about the action but the relationship and the realisation of living in this new world.

It's nothing that hasn't been done before. It's TWD and I stopped watching that as it turned into a repetitive melodrama.

It kept me occupied but it's not something I'd recommend or rave about.

As others have said SKIP episode 7. COMPLETE waste of time.

Black Mirror (2011– )

Season 6 Review

So. It started good with episode one. An interesting terms and conditions/supercomputer story.

After that I'm not even sure what I'm watching. Black Mirror was good because of the ideas it presented. All episodes did not present any intelligent ideas. E.g The space station episode, why not have the robots on the space station?

It's an epic fail for me. I found most of the episodes quite frankly dull and uninteresting.

REEEEDICULOUS

Watching as it had Tucci in it. Started well for 15 mins and the delved into the stupid.

If you can believe in the absolute ridiculous event that happens about 20 mins in, you'll be golden, otherwise give it a miss. I might continue watching just to see how REEEEEEEDICULOUS it gets. Terrible writing.

Title says it all. It's a decent film, disturbing and gory in parts but it fails for me to go that extra mile into a great movie but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Some disturbing moments and the boy is well cast.

A 6.5 for me. It's not something I would rave about but it's all done very well.
