Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)
(Whew) Satisfying conclusion.
I just got home from seeing this. As a lifetime fan of the Indiana Jones series (who hated Crystal Skull)...
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Satisfied. Better than Crystal Skull. Audience cheered throughout, and there was applause at the end. The parts I was nervous about from early plot leaks, worked.
I'm not interested in reading anyone else's opinions or reviews for a while. I just want to bask in my personal satisfaction with the film for a while before I eventually look to see what others thought. I'm sure there'll be people that hated it because noone can please everyone.
Will definitely see again.
Haute tension (2003)
Plot holes ruined this movie for me.
I love movies. I love horror movies. I enjoyed this movie. Up until the big plot twist. OMG. I have never seen plot holes so big before in my entire life. Not just big enough to drive a truck through but 4 trucks side-by-side. In order for the big plot twist to actually be believable it requires not just suspension of disbelief but suspension of your knowledge of physics, time/space, logic, etc. etc. It's just NOT possible.
I think they tacked on the ending as an after thought, realized it wasn't possible, but went with it anyway. This movie's plot twist ruined what otherwise would've been a great movie and turned it into one of the stupidest I've ever seen. It's now bunched in with Meet the Spartans and Master of Disguise. Wow. just... wow.
I give it a 1 out of 10 because 95% of the film was great so it earned the 1 star instead of a 0.
The Mist (2007)
Not what I expected. Pleasantly surprised!
How do I review this movie without spoiling it? I started watching this movie about a week ago with a friend but 20 minutes in we got bored and watched something else. I came back to the movie today and wow I'm glad I did. My eyes usually roll at "monster" movies but this movie actually has some substance. It's definitely a human drama. I especially enjoyed the fact that this movie didn't cop out and play things safe in a few scenes. One scene had actually got me to cheer out loud in my own living room and clap my hands. My favorite part however has to be the ending.
The only thing that prevents me giving this movie an 8.5 is some of the creature effects look a bit fake.
