Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris (2022)
Sweet but...
To begin, it's beautifully filmed with lovely locations, fabulous costumes and feels authentic..except the characters. It'd be impossible to meet this many helpful, charming, accommodating French people in one year, never mind a single week. From offers of accommodation, escort, lift, to entry into the atelier, it's literally unbelievable! So suspend your belief system and enjoy the lovely clothes and the possibility that it dreams do come true and pass almost two hours of gentle entertainment. Or wait for it to be on Netflix and you can fast forward the filler bits.
Naeil (2022)
Its so good
Each episode deals with a sigmificient issue in modern day living, particu, ary in those countries where taking your iwn life is seen as an option to stop bullying, online criticism, lonliness and pressure of social media. All of these issues are dealt with in a sensitive way. The four leads are all excellent. Rowoon is enderaing eithout being irritsting and Kim Hee Sun is so watchable.
Im hopeful for a second series but with Rowoon it might be difficult but itd be a shame to waste this opportunity for such a great series.
The Greatest Showman (2017)
Joyful!
I've created an account just to add my review in order to get as many people as possible to ignore the idiot critics and listen to the audience. It's a joyful experience to watch this wonderful film - it's not a history lesson but a course in perseverance, acceptance and just so feel good you'll leave the theatre with a lighter step and plans to see it again. I don;t know anyone who hasn't been moved by this film and the message.
Exceptional performances from all the cast but Hugh Jackman is outstanding. Can't wait to watch it again and in the meantime the soundtrack is on a loop in my house.
P.S. I Love You (2007)
Truly awful..
I was so disappointed with this movie - although the book wasn't Shakepheare I thought it was a tender, funny, touching tale and looked forward to the movie. But it was just wrong, wrong, wrong..surely these days we no longer need an American star to attract audiences (and don't get me started on the Other Boleyn Girl)but Hilary Swank was just not right for this part - her talent is considerable but she lacked charm and grace in this movie - all the things that made Holly so endearing in the book. I thought it was overlong, too wordy and too disjointed. The performances looked forced (except Kathy Bates) - Hollys friends were just annoying and Gerald Butler didn't come over as someone whose demise would destroy you - he was just a cartoon jolly Irishman with a song in his heart and a tear in his eye! Avoid at all costs - it'll put you off letter writing and guiness for life!
