A joyride from start to finish
22 September 2002
I have seen this movie several times now but finally after waiting forever for the trilogy of Back to the Future to be released on DVD I watched it again. It is still the movie I remember, some movies get dated but this one remains as strong as the first viewing and now in glorious Widescreen DVD quality and superb sound. The actors are all great with of course especially Michael J. Fox of whom I have been a huge fan from the beginning and just as great is Christopher Lloyd. The special effects are also great, every time you watch you see something new and I am looking forward to watch the 2 sequels and all extras on the DVD's, it may sound like a DVD commercial but it actually is one for the whole trilogy, the greatest ever. A big 10 for this movie

Funny movie with supporting cast as main attraction
14 July 2002
This movie has enough funny moments with some outstanding performances of Joan Cusack and (even though in a very small role) Vincent Schiavelli as Sommelier, watch and see what I mean, I fell of my chair with the few scenes with him. For me 7 out of 10.

The Brothers (2001)

Just above average
7 July 2002
This movie is about 4 men having difficulty to make a commitment. It is always nice to watch a movie with mostly African-American actors because even though if such a movie is only average there are still several mighty fine women to be seen like Gabrielle Union in this case. Nothing memorable but not bad for a rainy day.

The Pledge (I) (2001)

Jack Nicholson in great shape and uncredited
7 July 2002
This movie is very good, I fail to understand why Jack Nicholson is uncredited and officially he is only a supporting actor in The Pledge but he is the main attraction. I still need to see the first movie in which Jack is bad, even average movies look better with him in it, and this is the opinion of someone who is not even a fan. However there are so many great actors to be seen in bigger and smaller parts that in this case Jack doesn't have the whole movie on his shoulders, all in all, great acting, great locations and great directing. Without giving it all away, the ending might not exactly meet expectations which might give certain people a bad feeling, to others it will give a feeling that it is still a good conclusion if somewhat unorthodox. A must see............

Not nearly as good as the original
7 July 2002
This is not a bad "remake" but I still get a feeling that the original is, even though it is set back more than 20 years still highly superior in every way, only special effects are better but that can hardly be called an accomplishment considering the technical possibilities compared to the 60's. The first Apes movie spawned 4 sequels that got worse with every film, If this one is followed by one or more sequels I really hope these sequels can beat the sequels to the original ones. Go out to the video store and rent them both, you will know what I mean, the original is super(ior), the "remake" is not bad.
