Machos Alfa (2022)
Superb
This is the best comedy show I've probably ever watched. It is consistent and entertaining. Pretty much every episode is 10/10. The writing is superb. It's not PC but that's not the point of it. In its own way, it gets the viewer to look at things from a different angle, it is brash and subtle at the same time. It genuinely made me laugh out loud time and again. It is full of wit and charm and the acting is excellent throughout. Yes, much of the show is exaggerated but that is part of what it is. It is a truly brilliant piece of work and I feel like I have waited all my life to see these characters on screen, it exposes the many different personalities of people.
Liebes Kind (2023)
Dreadful acting and confusing ending
Persevered with this to find out the ending. It was very poor, didn't wrap up properly or explain enough for me to understand the story or possible story. Plot made little sense. Acting was mediocre.

Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones (2023)
Many people live to 85 now
Many places outside of the blue zones have achieved average life expectancy of 84 years. So I'm not sure what makes the blue zones so special. This programme is over dramatic in its claims. Why aren't any scientists or data analysts present to give a balanced view.
I also wondered how well records would have been kept in some of those remote areas. Could someone think they were 95 and maybe they were only 88?
Since these studies, further analysis has shown that the data mentioned isn't entirely accurate. The agenda should have been more balanced. Someone needed to debunk the data on the show or at least challenge it to show whether it holds up to scrutiny.
Know Your Sh!t: Inside Our Guts (2023)
Forward thinking
Brilliant introduction that there are other ways that digestive diseases can be managed. These include making dietary and lifestyle changes.
As a long term sufferer of debilitating IBS this programme has been a breath of fresh air. It gives a different approach to the typical options given by gastroenterologists. Wish I'd seen it years ago. Sophie and Rabia are excellent.
Each episode covers several different issues, and offers possible solutions. It even covers SIBO and psoriasis. It tells you what gastroenterologists are too busy to explain or don't know themselves. It talks about the latest research on the microbiome. Well done to everyone involved in getting this out to the mainstream.
Kirstie & Phil's Love It or List It (2015)
Too many revisits
Too many revisits and not enough original shows. Not many episodes per series.
Joker (2019)
Poses some uncomfortable questions
A masterpiece of a movie that does what few movies ever do. It makes you feel uncomfortable and asks questions about humanity. Not everyone had the best start. Some have it worse than others. As a society do we care enough.
The Game Changers (2018)
Propoganda, almost fell for it
The makers have a vested interest. Plant based is being pushed heavily in the UK, that isn't just happening on its own without big money behind it. I tried vegetarianism in my twenties and it didn't suit me but that doesn't mean some people can't do sort of okay on a meat free diet (they will be most likely supplementing vitamins though). Most vegetarians tend to be on the slim not muscle side. If you really want to test their theory, check out the real vegans who you know and do they look like any of the people in the film. I found myself wondering how many of the subjects in the film were taking steroids as that's how their bodies looked. The statements made in this film are too general and not backed up by controlled studies.
Gardeners' World (1968)
The best gardening programme
Monty Don is an inspiration when it comes to all things green. He welcomes you into his own garden, Longmeadow, where the series is filmed. It feels like spending an hour in the company of a life long friend.
The series shares a wealth of knowledge and Monty gives some good old fashioned advice. He is a great advocate for wildlife and for organic farming. He even manages to make the subject of compost fascinating.
In my opinion, Monty is to gardens what Attenborough is to wildlife documentaries. Nobody does it better.
