Apples Never Fall (2024)
Generic stereotypes of rich people - Like Succession but boring
So we all agree that generic negative racial stereotypes are bad, except that it is apparently fine when those are about rich white people. Succession is at least well-written unlike this one. The entire thing revolves around what happened to mom. That's not a spoiler. That's the first thing they make clear. Ok, solid basic premise. Mystery whodunnit. But the plot arc is undermined by boring dialogue and what has become the well-worn trope of the black female cop bringing justice to those nasty rich people. Even the idea that these are people who you wouldn't expect to be involved in suspicious activity is solid, as we saw in Ozark which was amazing. But could we done (or just take a little rest for a few years) from Hollywood's culture war?
Farmer Wants A Wife (2023)
Much better than The Bachelor
Much more genuine than the highly scripted dating shows. These are real farmers so they understandably are not choosing potential wives who are doctors and lawyers. Most of the women who would thrive on The Bachelor just fall on their faces here because they are game players who only want to be on TV.
The women who tend to do well on this show are genuine, caring women who want to help their future husband and have children. That doesn't fit the progressive narrative so you'll see alot of bashing the show from people who can't accept that alot of women (and men like me) still want a life focused on family and country.
Great show! I look forward to watching it every week, and it doesn't leave me feeling like the world is going down the tubes like most modern TV shows.
Bail Jumpers (2024)
Great show. Shows real life unscripted.
Watch an episode or two and you'll enjoy the very real unscripted human portraits. The bail bondsman are good people doing their jobs and interacting with people as equals (without the pedantic, superior attitude that you see on some law enforcement shows). Sometimes they acknowledge their illegal actions and other times they share their stories/versions of what happened to land them on the wrong side of the law. But it definitely doesn't have that "lawbreakers are bad, mkay?" judgmental tone like most law shows.
This show doesn't fit the progressive narrative because it shows people making bad choices and facing the legal consequences. It doesn't make law enforcement look bad, so it also doesn't fit the standard Hollywood formula. Thus the 1 star reviews from people promoting their socio-political agenda who don't like unscripted shows.
