Ispytanie (2014)
Pure cinema at its noblest form
This is a masterpiece i can watch and re-watch infinitely.
I recently found by the hazard of my personal succession of cinema sessions, that it could be an oriental answer or retort to the last Bela Tarr movie : The Turin Horse.
I felt or rather discovered (too many references/situations to be the result of chance) that it was a tribute but with the spirit of a rising sun and a touch of russian soul instead of the weight of the void
You will find saturate colors, a beautiful landscape, love in the air ... everything seems to be an opposition or a complementary part like the ying an the yang to the bela tarr movie. Or maybe it is a medicine against the nothingness. Ispytanie represent the bright side of this cinephile diptych.
A torinói ló (2011)
Dark side Masterpiece. Occidental Apocalypse
This is a masterpiece, but it can be hard to watch if you are not in the mood.
The picture and movement of camera are the true narrator as expected in greatest movies. The rhythm is very slow and deliberately repetitive. It is not an easy movie. This is about the routine and nothingness. But, deeper, it is probably more about the human condition surrounded by an Nietzschean philosophy all over the occidental world in decline. A movie about the Apocalypse but without revelations, without God. It is hard to watch because there is no love, no hope, no joy, no spirit, almost no living soul in the characters. But you can enjoy the beauty of the black and white, the choreography of the camera. The only escape of nothingness for Bela Tarr, is Art, is Cinema.
It is more occidental than universal.
There is an oriental answer to the last Bela Tarr movie : Ispytanie (Alexander Kott, 2014). I felt or rather discovered (too many references to be the result of chance) that it was a tribute to The Turin Horse but with the spirit of a rising sun and a touch of Russian Soul. You will find color and love to represent the bright side of this cinephile diptych.
