Was wir wollten (2020)
Thank you for telling this story
Yes, there are not a lot of obvious things that are happening in this movie. But a lot of layers of pain are displayed that deserve to be told. This is the story of so many couples out there. This is my story and I am thankful that someone considers it important enough to make a movie of a topic that is still a taboo in our society
The pain is displayed so subtle, that maybe not everyone might get all of it. The children they see everywhere around them and it's tearing out your heart. Not being able to have a normal sex live because everything is just about conceiving. The comments from strangers who ,mean it well'. The having to let go of how you imagined your life to be and almost everyone can have but just not you. The house you built for your family but you will just always be a couple.
If you did not get the movie, maybe you are simply not able to put yourself in someone else's shoes.
Ur spår (2022)
Movie about infertility and single parent struggles rather than skiing
I wish I knew before watching this movie that the main theme of the movie is infertility. Everything around like the sister, the skiing training and event seem just like a decoration to the infertility theme.
As someone who is going through infertility, I was really triggered by this movie. Not really a topic of a light comedy. I mean, this is kind of telling the audience that in the end everything will work out and you will be pregnant. Life spoiler: This is not the case.
Other than that, the movie got quite boring in the last third. The event seemed lame and it was not a good advertising for the Vasaloppet.
Falling for Christmas (2022)
Flat and predictable
I was really looking forward to this as I love Christmas movies and was excited to see Lindsay Lohan.
Having said that, the movie is so flat that it was hard to stand. That instagram fiancé was just unbearable to watch. I mean, do people like this guy even exist?
The story completely foreseeable. The spoiled hotel heiress was not a second authentic. Then we have that widower and single father that was also not likeable. Why did she say that she has never met a person like him? Like, what was so special special about him? And why does it always have to be a widower?
Not blaming the actors as the story was just flat and the lines were worse. It was totally overdone and a missed opportunity.
Then that Santa Clause magic.... Puh!
Autumn in the City (2022)
Missing New York, missing autumn
Seeing the title of the movie made me really excited as I was fed up a bit with all the small town Vermont fall movies out there.
I was looking forward to beautiful Central Park scenes during fall. However, this movie was clearly not filmed during autumn and having said that, the fake foliage decoration the film team put up was just really bad. The streets of New York were decorated in a very bad and cheap way, all the New York vibe and authenticity completely gone. But the story was so flat that in the end it a came together - in a very bad way.
It was not a story about finding your passion but about being naive as a 30yo.
Life Itself (2018)
Would need a trigger warning for infertile people
Beautiful movie with a lot to laugh, smile and cry. However, it left me and also my husband in a very desperate, sad state. Being an infertile couple that is not able to create a family, the ending is very hard to watch.
Into the Beat - Dein Herz tanzt (2020)
Full of chlichés
Nothing new in this movie that we have not seen before.
Story is predictable and the dancing is mediocre, especially the ballet scenes make it hard to believe that this girl was supposed to pursue a career as a professional ballet dancer.
What is troubling is the same racist cliché that we have seen before: Black hip hop dancer that is coming from a troubling family background and lives in an orphanage. Come on, why do we always need to put black people in these same roles?
To sum it up: A German version of "Save the last dance" that you can easily skip.
Moxie (2021)
So inspiring
This movie is so empowering and inspiring to ALL women regardless of age!
Giving it a 10 because I think your daughters and sons should watch this.
If Only (2004)
Add more life to your days
Watching this movie, I thought it had a very clear message. I have a child that is terminally ill and that cannot be healed. So this movie shows exactly what we are currently trying to live after: "If you cannot add more days to your life, and more life to your days."
I did not care that the day seemed extremely long and the unrealistic. I think it is the message that counts. I was a little unsure about the ending though.
But for me, it was a really heart shaking movie that really shows what is important in life.
