Kaathal - The Core (2023)
Kaathal - The Core: Untangling a tale of twisted LOVE...
Jeo Baby flawlessly has interwoven the intricate threads of love, relationships, and human emotions in this exemplary masterpiece: Kaathal - The Core.
This unprecedented tale is an embodiment of various flavors of love 💗 - platonic, romantic, and familial.
Kaathal is a well-crafted narrative that takes you through a roller coaster ride, where human emotions are at its peak and relationships undergo a profound transformation.
Mammooty and Jyothika excel in their characters and are extremely mature and convincing in this narrative of a struggle to break the tangles of relationships and the portrayal of unconventional love.
Every actor in the movie, be it Mathew Devassy, Omana Philip, Thankan, or Apachan speak through their eyes. Jyothika steals the show with her candid dialogues and portrayal of an innocent wife who has been leading a love-less life for 20 years. Mamooka is again at his best at 72. 2023 cinema definitely belonged to him.
Kaathal is a visual treat, navigating in a picturesque and quaint town of Thekkoi in Pala of Kottayam. The lilting music speaks volume about love, emotions, heartbreaks 💔, and complexity of relationships handled by simple people.
The beautifully-crafted movie started streaming on Amazon Prime since the 5th of January and is a must watch for all movie enthusiasts. 💖
Available on Amazon Prime.
Falimy (2023)
Falimy: A tale of a twisted family!
Basil Joseph never disappoints with his movies, and in this roller-coaster family ride, he emerges again as one of the bankable actors of our cinema.
Falimy can be catalogued as a classic comedy😀and an absolute entertainment for the entire family.
Without any spoilers, the story revolves around dubbing artist Anoop (Anu) played by Basil and his family including his grandpa, who is seen making several failed attempts to board a train to Varnasi. The distorted family finally reconnects to fulfil the grandpa's desires.
You can find this feel-good gem on Disney Hotstar that I'm sure will keep you glued to the screen for a couple of hours, with its spot-on performances of the entire dysfunctional family crew and a seamless blend of humor and emotions.
Apart from Basil, Jagadish's performance as the infuriating father is commendable, you would actually want to slap the man to instill his obliterated responsibilities. Jagadish has been surprising with this performances repeatedly movie after movie.
Malayalam narratives are one of the best ✨in the country and the director Nitish Sahadev has proved in this one that our cinema excels in translating the intrinsic nature of humdrum existence with unfeigned dogma.
Overall, Falimy is a feel-good fun to watch movie that progresses towards a poignant message.👍
Neru (2023)
Neru: Unveiling Reality!
The story is not something that is unusual. But, the courtroom proceedings, the trials, and the importance of consent are the highlights there. Mohanlal (as advocate Vijay Mohan) is brilliant as usual, no extra, dramatized heroics. The last 10 mins were extremely emotional. The good-looking villain 🥊🥊 reminds you of Fahad Fasil's character in 22Female Kottayam. Anaswara Rajan excels in her role as the visually-challenged victim, and is the REAL hero of the movie. This well-conceptualized courtroom narrative by Jeetu Joseph is a highly-recommended watch. IMDB has a ~8 rating, I don't have to say more 😃.
OTT channel partner is Hotstar, so the movie will stream on the platform sooner or later. And, I'm sure it will be remade in other languages soon.. and pitiably enough, Ajay Devgan may play the advocate!
One of the most commendable aspect of Neru is its ability to provoke a deep-reflective thought and it delves into the existential themes of harsh and bizarre reality. The cinematography and the music/and the bgm perfectly complement every scene intensifying the emotions of the lead characters.
Neru's narrative is enigmatic and not straightforward, and is a must-watch cinematic gem, which triggers an intellectual journey in the audience.
