Body Language (1995)
Somebody saw Body Heat (1981)
Even down to the fist word in the title, there are many similarities between the two. Body Heat is one of my favorites, so I also enjoyed Body Language although the writing and dialog were certainly not up to the "original". Tom Berenger did a good job, I thought...but a little too smart and slick to be hoodwinked as he was. As a comparison, William Hurt (Body Heat) was able to be convincing as a boob lawyer being manipulated at every turn by a conniving female.
Body Heat (1981)
Kasdan's Masterpiece
I think the writer also being the director is one of the key ingredients in this genre-creating sensual thriller. Great script, great directing, great cast, great acting.....it really does have it all. William Hurt is masterful in a difficult part, having to play a manipulated boob lawyer with some semblance of smarts, just not enough to save himself from a wily and relentless Matty Walker (Kathleen Turner). Come to think of it, most men, smart or dumb, wouldn't want to be rescued from Kathleen.
"Heat" in the title is manifested all over this movie...men's sweaty shirts sticking to their backs, sucking back iced teas in great quantities, dialog about the heat, etc.
Great, great movie....and what about a sequel? Ned gets out of prison, starts looking for Matty with revenge and/or answers on his mind. Or maybe it's just that red skirt on the stairs he's concerned about.
