Big expectations gave way to great disappointment

I have to admit I loved the original Firestarter from 1984, and so when I noticed they'd made a sequel I was both pleased and suspicious. Sequels do have a tendency to not measure up to the first movie and this one is no exception. It starts out well, and builds up to a pretty decent finish, and then it just falls flat to the ground. The ending may be the worst I have seen in any film for a long time. The fact that this film is almost 3 hours long doesn't help either. It was a good idea, but very badly executed. Good intentions don't always lead to good results.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the cinema...

After Jaws 3D I thought they'd gotten as low as they could get, and then they made this movie... It turns out I was wrong, it could get worse. Much worse. Jaws was a great movie, Jaws 2 was viewable, Jaws 3 was plain awful, but this... This goes right off the scale, way below the lowest point. The only movie in this series where you find yourself actually hoping the shark would win.
