Sound of Freedom (2023)

The most important movie you'll watch this year!

I've been waiting to watch this movie in the UK as it started to do the rounds. I'm so thankful I finally got to see it with my eldest son today. I haven't cried so much in a long time because every actor (including the children) put their hearts and souls into making their characters come to life in this harrowing story which is based on true-life events.

Jim Caviezel is truly a phenomenal actor. The anguish you see in his eyes as he's forced to watch videos of children being abused in order to type out statement reports is heartbreaking. You literally feel his soul being torn to pieces.

To every person who made this film possible, especially the hero himself Tim Ballard, thank you for bringing this story to the world and making people aware of the horrors that is ongoing worldwide.

Make sure you watch the important message at the very end after the credits because there is an opportunity for you to pay it forward (which I did).

Harlan Coben's Shelter (2023)

Huge disappointment!

I'm a big fan of Harlan Coben and I've read every single one of his books. I was so excited to watch this but....very disappointed at the changes made to push an agenda. There are F-bombs every 5 seconds and obligatory addition of LGBTQ characters (especially to one of the major characters!) which did not add anything to the original story, so why change it? Such a shame as this had the potential to really bring to life some well-loved characters. None of the leads have any charisma and they are not helped by poorly written dialogue that is filled with totally unnecessary expletives. What a missed opportunity.
