Predator (1987)
Classic film. One of the best aliens created.
As someone who grew up in the 1980s, I have a soft spot for the classic action movies of that era, and Predator is certainly no exception. This movie, directed by John McTiernan and released in 1987, is a thrilling and intense ride from start to finish, and it still holds up as a classic action movie to this day.
One of the things that makes Predator so great is its cast. The movie features some of the biggest action stars of the 1980s, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, and Jesse Ventura, all of whom deliver strong performances. The chemistry between the characters is palpable, and you really feel like these guys are a team, which makes it all the more thrilling when they're picked off one by one by the titular Predator.
Speaking of the Predator, this is one of the greatest movie monsters of all time. The creature's design is iconic, with its dreadlocks, mandibles, and glowing eyes, and the practical effects used to bring it to life are still impressive to this day. The Predator is a formidable foe for the human characters, and the tension builds throughout the movie as they try to figure out how to defeat it.
But Predator isn't just a mindless action movie. It's also a great example of the science fiction genre, with its exploration of the Predator's technology and society. The movie hints at a larger universe beyond what we see on screen, and it's clear that the writers put a lot of thought into the Predator's backstory.
Overall, Predator is a movie that holds a special place in the hearts of many who grew up in the 1980s, and it's easy to see why. It's a thrilling action movie with great performances, impressive practical effects, and a memorable monster. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend giving it a watch.

What Lies Below (2020)
Had potential, then it ran straight into the wall of disappointment
"What Lies Below" is a 2020 horror movie that falls short of delivering a truly terrifying and engaging experience. Directed by Braden R. Duemmler, the movie follows the story of a young woman, Liberty (Ema Horvath), who travels with her boyfriend, John (Trey Tucker), to his remote lake house to meet his parents. However, she quickly realizes that the family's dark secrets are far more sinister than she could have imagined.

Another issue with the movie is its underwhelming special effects. While the filmmakers clearly tried to create a suspenseful and creepy atmosphere, the cheap and unconvincing special effects detract from the overall impact of the movie. This results in a lack of tension and a failure to effectively scare the audience.
Furthermore, the acting is subpar and fails to add any credibility to the story. The performances are wooden and lack any real emotion, which makes it difficult for the audience to take the movie seriously.
In conclusion, "What Lies Below" is a disappointing horror movie that fails to deliver a truly frightening and engaging experience. Its predictable storyline, underwhelming special effects, and poor acting all contribute to a movie that is simply not worth watching. Black Panther (2018)
A bland, uninspiring, and cliched movie
Black Panther, released in 2018, is a superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Despite its critical and commercial success, the movie falls short in delivering a compelling story and fulfilling its potential.
Firstly, the plot is predictable and lacks nuance. The conflict between T'Challa and Killmonger is reduced to a simplistic battle of good versus evil, with little exploration of the complex political and cultural issues at play.
Additionally, the characters are underdeveloped and lack depth. T'Challa, while visually stunning, is a bland and uninteresting protagonist. Supporting characters, such as Nakia and Okoye, are reduced to stereotypical roles and lack agency.
The film also fails to fully utilize its predominantly black cast, relying instead on stereotypes and cliches. While the movie may have been marketed as a celebration of black culture and identity, it falls short in truly challenging and subverting Hollywood norms.
Finally, the film's action sequences are underwhelming and uninspired, relying too heavily on CGI rather than practical effects. The lack of originality in the action scenes detracts from the overall experience.
Overall, Black Panther is a disappointment and fails to live up to the hype. While it may have made an impact in terms of representation, the film falls short in delivering a well-crafted and engaging story.
Tusk (2014)

Malignant (2021)
Another disappointing horror movie that had potential :(
Malignant is a 2021 horror film that falls short of delivering a gripping, suspenseful experience. The plot revolves around a mysterious and deadly illness that is spreading rapidly, causing patients to exhibit unusual and terrifying symptoms. While the concept of a deadly disease as the primary antagonist is intriguing, the execution of the film is lackluster and fails to capitalize on the potential of the premise.
The pacing of the film is slow, and there is a lack of tension throughout. The jump scares are few and far between, and when they do occur, they are poorly executed and fail to shock or scare the audience. The film relies heavily on cheap thrills and gore, but these elements do not make up for the lack of substance and depth in the story.
The characters in the film are poorly developed and lack depth. The dialogue is stilted and unnatural, and the acting is subpar, which makes it difficult for the audience to connect with and care about the characters. The film's attempts at exploring themes such as mortality, illness, and the fragility of life fall flat due to the shallow and one-dimensional portrayal of the characters.
In terms of production values, the film is average at best. The special effects and cinematography are unimpressive, and the score is forgettable. The film's color palette is muted and uninspired, lacking the visual flair that is often present in successful horror films.
Overall, Malignant is a disappointing and uninspired horror film that fails to deliver on its promise of suspense and terror. The film is slow-paced, lacks tension, and has poorly developed characters and unimpressive production values. Fans of the horror genre would be better served by seeking out other, more successful examples of the genre.

The film attempts to explore the idea of what happens after death, but ultimately falls short in delivering a coherent and satisfying story.
The film's pacing is slow and plodding, with long stretches of dialogue that fail to advance the plot or develop the characters. The acting is also lackluster, with the lead actors delivering wooden performances that fail to elicit any emotional response from the audience. Furthermore, the film's climax is unsatisfying and leaves many questions unanswered, leaving the audience feeling confused and frustrated. The ending is also unsatisfying and leaves the audience with a sense of disappointment. The film's script is also poorly written with no clear direction, poor pacing and lack of character development.

Lykke-Per (2018)
Hate-able main character, so-so movie. Definitely not worth its average 7.2 rating.
A Fortunate Man is a 2018 Danish film directed by Bille August and based on the novel of the same name by Henrik Pontoppidan. The film has received mixed reviews and has been criticized for its slow pacing, and lack of character development.
The film follows the story of Peter Sidenius, a young man from a wealthy family who wants to make a difference in the world by becoming an engineer and building hydroelectric power plants. But despite his privileged background and education, he struggles to find his place in the world and to make a real impact.
One of the main criticisms of the film is its slow pacing, which makes it difficult to engage with the story and the characters. The film also lacks character development, with most of the characters remaining one-dimensional and not fully fleshed out. This makes it hard to understand their motivations and to empathize with their struggles.
Additionally, the film has been criticized for not fully capturing the complexity of the source material. The novel is a dense, multi-layered exploration of the themes of privilege, power, and class, but the film simplifies these themes and fails to do them justice.
In conclusion, A Fortunate Man is a film that has a lack of character development, and for not fully capturing the complexity of the source material. It may not be the best adaptation of the novel and the film may not be for everyone.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Haters gonna hate
Look at all the Tolkien nerds! They are out in force and they don't like it!
As a casual fan, this show so far is great! Much better than House of Dragons. The show is much more interesting and the visuals are much more stunning.
It's great to learn the back stories of Elrond and Galadriel, which is something I've always wanted to know.
Plus what appears to be the possible ancestors of Hobbits :)
I also like the actors and actresses, they seem well-cast. Will the show be as great as GoT? No but only because the stories are so different from each other.
I think if you're a fan of LotR, you'll be a fan of this show. However if you're a Tolkien nerd, probably not. I personally do not care if the show sticks to the Tolkien books. Just make sure the show is good on its own and that's good enough for me.
On the Rocks (2020)
This was a movie??
I like all of Sophia's movies but this one was a puzzler.
The way the movie was going and how it ended I really thought it was supposed to be a show series.
It like almost like this movie was created when Sophia was really bored one day and had absolutely nothing to do.
All the actors in this movie were fine and I had no issues, but the story? Not sure there was one there at all.
Ted Lasso (2020)
Started slow, now one of my all time favorite shows
Stick with it beyond the first couple of episodes and you'll be richly rewarded with good comedic writing and a great story to boot.
Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet (2020)
Trash Copy of Silicon Valley
Watched the first episode and couldn't make it through to the end.
Painfully obvious clone of Silicon Valley and a bad copy at that.
Characters try to use industry catch words and phrases that fall flat on delivery. Maybe it's the actors or the writing? Who knows.
Younger (2015)
If you live in a world where only pretty white people exist, this is the show for you!
I've seen one minority on this show that takes place in a big city. Lmao!
Captain Marvel (2019)
Here Comes All The Women Haters
Imma start right off and say this is not a review about the movie. Yes I saw it and I thought it was a good Marvel film like any recent Marvel ones.
As a male I find it perplexing that so many comic book/video game fans have so much hate to give when it comes to leading roles by woman. The exception is maybe Womder Woman?
People here are giving it a thumbs down for all kinds of stuff that I think are mostly made up.
All I know is that if Black Panther can be considered a great movie, than I know Captain Marvel is nowhere near as bad as these haters seem to make it.
