The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005)
A number of very talented actors are wasted here.bWhat a pity.5.
Full disclosure, I haven't read any of Adam's books. As is common there may be many of his readers disappointed in how this material has been adapted for the screen. I found 'big' laughs few and far between and the 'small' laughs better expressed as smiles.the cast worked hard to generate sparks but alas...
With a stellar cast this picture should soar. That it didn't, is another of life's mysteries.
Deschanel and Freeman make for a pleasant pairing and it's always great to see John Malkovich through the camera lens
My highlight was the downbeat yet still mellifluous tones of the magnificent Alan Rickman. Maybe someone will have another tilt at this book sometime in the future with all that AI and its limitless motion picture potential. It's a 5 from me.
Unspeakable (2017)
A Gripping TeleMovie that focuses on the corrosive nature of DOUBT. Short and most watchable. An 8 from me
In less than 50 minutes this thriller moves from seemingly happy families to the broken pieces of a budding relationship. A woman splits from her husband. Arrangements are made to share the kids on alternate weekends. One of the kids is a brooding 11 year old girl: many parents would be very familiar with the bubbling hormones and the secretive life they can lead.meanwhile the mother begins a friendship with a much younger man. He moves into her home and finds himself as part of a family. Shortly thereafter the mother receives an anonymous text message suggesting her boyfriend might be behaving inappropriately with the daughter. Doubt ensues and works its corrosive spell.
Certainly worth the time.
