Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
another good guardians of the galaxy movie
I really liked this movie and it has been a while since I enjoyed a marvel or dc production. But the previous guardians of the galaxy films were also great and it seems like James Gunn has nailed it. I saw that some people found the movie to just be a bunch of non-stop action, and criticizing it for lacking depth. But it feels like they have missed the point of the movie, it's a superhero movie. Not implying that all superhero movies lack depth, and according to me this one didn't, but in some way the focus is on action and excitement. James Gunn did more than that, the movie has an intriguing plot and is well written, many of the comic elements are actually funny and the cgi and the world that he has created are amazing. It's a bit grotesque from time to time, I think, but overall a great movie.
The Flash (2023)
low tier superhero movie
Lost all desire to watch the film 30 minutes in, and think principle is the only reason I watched it. It was like a kids movie with kids' humor but some bloody and dark scenes. An action packed movie without logic, intriguing aspects or any type of thinking. A generic layout of Barry Allen as a socially awkward researcher trying to get together with this girl he likes and saving the world. The plot gets a little interesting when time travel and alternative time lines are introduced, but somehow it becomes unexciting. Maybe because of the mess that is created, all the illogical decisions or the bad CGI. All and all it feels like a typical dc or marvel movie with some bad humor but at the same time an appealing universe.
The Equalizer 2 (2018)
A cool guy
If you are looking for a movie to watch in a relaxed state without much thought The Equalizer 2 is probably great for you. Denzel Washington is performing as usual and the movie contains a lot of action, and there is nothing wrong with watching a film like this from time to time. But all this movie is about is showcasing the intelligence and awesomeness of this one man who is saving his friends. Same concept as in the John Wick movies. It is a film you walked out from as a kid feeling energetic and powerful, ready to fight and kill anyone. Its goal seems to be to give us a feeling of awe and respect towards Denzel's character Robert McCall, to think that he is cool. It is generic, but that is at the same time some of its charm.
