The Kingdom (2007)
They can't help themselves, Hollywood that is
They really can't help themselves. And Berg is like the rest of the clones that dominate the film industry.
1. American agents are portrayed as arrogant, sarcastic, and largely ignorant. This could have been a good movie had they made the characters like real Americans, not a Hollywood stereotype.
2. It is completely unbelievable that a female FBI agent would not know that she would not be allowed, in Saudi Arabia, to touch a dead Muslim man's body.
3. I would love to see a Hollywood product that does not promote their stereotypical view of American service men and women, sadly this film is just another example of their bigotry. They just can't help themselves.
3:10 to Yuma (2007)
Would somebody please get Christian Bale some Ex-Lax, OR.........
Bad guys smart, good guys dumb, and pusillanimous.
If you like actors who sound like a caricature of Clint Eastwood, i.e. constipated, then you'll love this movie.
And if you like Hollywood's view of the good guys (the US Military) as indecisive, weak, pathetic, pleading and/or corrupt, and surprised by everything the bad guys do, then you'll love this film.
After Russell Crowe is captured and the buffoonish good guys are escorting him through the desert, Crowe SURPRISES them all by suddenly trying to overwhelm the posse. Luckily for them they had a 14 year old along to rescue them. Yes, yes, yes, the good guys are all too moronic to predict an escape attempt by a mass murderer. Now the amazing thing is that the good guys once again fall asleep at the wheel and Crowe escapes after the group is attacked by Apaches.
But wait, it gets even better. Crowe is later captured by Forrest Frye (who plays a marshall) and it is then that the weak kneed Christian Bale, after proving his indecisiveness for half a film, swings into action and beats the crud out of Frye and his buddies. Absurd? Yes, but remember, this is Hollywood and they can't imagine good guys with any courage.
At the point when Crowe's gang rode into town and the only person who saw them was the 14 year old, I couldn't take it anymore. It was time to say good bye to another Hollywood pile-o-schlock.
Voices of Iraq (2004)
To the "progressive" Left, The truth is an awful, awful thing
I really am beginning to feel bad for the American Left (i.e. The Democratic Party as represented by Michael Moore, Howard Dean, Barbara Boxer, and John Kerry). They are losing control of the information pipeline. This film is example #34 of their inability to control the media. Unfortunately for them, CBS CNN, ABC, NBC, PBS, The New York Tmes, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times and the rest of the elite establishment media can't stop progress. The dam is crumbling and they are trying to plug the holes with bubble gum.
This film tells the tale of Iraq from an Iraqi point of view, and the American Left can't stand it. They believe that they have sole possession of the truth and it is they, not the Iraqi people, who will tell the world the truth about Iraq. But alas, truth is a very tricky thing, and it sneaks out eventually, and unfortunately for the American Left, it is beginning to expose their dishonesty and snobbish elitism. They truly believe that they are far more intelligent, possess far more wisdom, and are far better human beings than the ordinary working people of America. It is a shame, to the bigots from the Left, that Americans now have the ability to actually see a film like this, that tells the same tale that has been limited to letters home from American soldiers. These letters can be found littered throughout conservative websites, but they cannot be found on the pages of any major American newspaper, or in the broadcast of any American Network, with the exception of a rare appearance on FOX. The "progressive" Left hates the kind of truth that an American soldier or an ordinary Iraqi can tell. A "truth" not yet sifted through their bitter, hate-filled, narcissistic filter.
The real truth is that the American Left couldn't care less about the Iraqi people, or the women of Afghanistan, or any other oppressed person on this earth. What they do care about is maintaining their luxurious lives with as little discomfort, physical or emotional, as possible, and oppressed people seeking freedom are just thorns that upset the bliss of "progressive" ignorance.
Thank you Mr. Drury, Mr. Kunert, and Mr. Manes. Every new film like this that comes out is just another hole in the dam that the establishment Left can't fill fast enough. To totalitarian types, and the "progressive" American Left, the truth is an awful, awful thing.
Celsius 41.11: The Temperature at Which the Brain... Begins to Die (2004)
Why the Left can't win in America anymore.
I just came back from the theater after seeing this film on its
second day of showing. It is a very good movie that concisely
details why modern conservative philosophy dwarfs that of
contemporary liberalism, which has become virtually indistinguishable from Leftism.
After logging on to IMDb.com, I was not very surprised to find
15 reviews already posted, and many of the bad reviews came
from people who haven't seen the film, and 219 votes cast with an
average of 3.1. These ratings and reviews say much more about
the modern American Left than it does about the film. In the film
Chetwynd shows clips of antiwar protesters. They are a good
representation of the today's Left: mean, hate-filled, pompous and
narcissistic. And when they have no coherent arguments to bolster
their bigoted ideas, they do what all reactionaries do, resort to
name calling and, eventually, violence. After all, they are so much
smarter than us ordinary people. And what would we ever do
without them to tell us how moronic we and our president are?
As this movie points out, it is in fact Al Gore and the corrupt
Democratic party that attempted to steal the 2000 election. Michael
Moore has a habit of saying he feels bad for "stupid white men",
and even John McCain, because they don't understand that they
are on their way out, but it is the hate-filled Left that needs pity.
Although they would like it to be different, it is ordinary Americans,
not the university or Hollywood elite, who decide who will be the
President of The United States of America. And though Michael
Moore runs around in his t-shirt and baseball cap, and his phony
working class hero routine, claiming to speak for the American
people, he doesn't. He speaks instead for those who hate this
country and have only contempt for the ordinary people who will
vote George Bush in as president once again in a week and a half,
despite the attempts of the "we know better" Left to steal this
election too.
In this film several of those interviewed talked of George
Bush's belief in American exceptionalism. But this kind of talk only
irritates and even enrages those who hate and have contempt for
the values of middle America and its belief in American
exceptionalism. The elite in this country would prefer that we
dispense with heartland values and replace them with the smug
indifference of Western Europe, and the pretentious elitism of
Hollywood blowhards, like Michael Moore.
Unfortunately for those who try to diminish the power of this film
by stuffing the ballot box with fraudulent votes, there is a paradigm
shift afoot, and they are living in the world of yesterday, where they
could pretend to advocate great ideas like human rights while
doing little or nothing to help those dying in torture chambers and
those stuffed into mass graves. The truth comes out eventually
and the time has come, thanks in large part to George Bush, when
all with open minds can see clearly who really cares about the
oppressed in this world. The shift is occurring before our eyes,
and the American Left has nothing left to convince America of the
validity of their failed ideas. They have already compared George
Bush to Hitler and have said he stole the Presidency. What do they
have left? There is nothing more they can say or offer, accept vitriol
and defeatism. The only way they can win is to stuff the ballot box
like they have done on this site. Why? Because they don't trust the
American people to make up their minds for themselves.
With the help of films like this one, and the persistence of
George Bush, the lies of the hate-filled Left will be uncovered, one
by one, until those who promote those lies will be exposed for
what they are, nihilists who hate the values that America
represents, and can be found on any coin, "Liberty", "E Pluribus
Unum", and "In God We Trust".
"Celsius 41.11" is just one more nail in the coffin of the bad
ideas of Leftism. Leftist reactionaries are trying to hold back the
tide, but it is too late. I would advise Ted Kennedy, Jesse Jackson
and Michael Moore, in a last ditch effort to hold off progress, to
stuff themselves into Moore's limousine and barnstorm middle
America on behalf of John Kerry, pontificating to the people they
view as simpletons, about the evils of George Bush and the
America he represents. That should seal his fate and the fate of
the reactionary Left in this country. Then maybe the adults in the
Democratic party will come to their senses and make it the party of
Franklin Roosevelt and Harry Truman again, rather than the party
of Michael Moore.
Charles in Charge (1984)
Unbelievably unwatchable tripe!
This show insults the sensibilities of a moderately intelligent four year old. Scott Baio may not be a very good actor, but in this show, Willie Ames makes him look like Olivier. In all honesty, "Charles In Charge" is down right embarrassing. The scripts have a level of sophistication that may be beneath an elementary school play.
