Outer Range (2022)
Upside down Worlds
I am so tired if everyone copying 'Stranger Things' and the upside down world theme.
Can't. Writers come up with an original concept that might involve "other worlds" without making it so confusing
Hear me out I am a huge Sci-Fi fan and a fan of most of these actors . I'm also glad they are finally giving some recognition to our Native American atrocities and crimes by bringing them into a series.
This whole storyline is weird and constantly moves in/out current/past anand your just scrambling to catch up
Sorry I will watch it and hopefully be surprised in the end but I don't think so
I'll never get that time back😳
Sugar (2024)
Crazy good !
Okay, I'm a huge fan of film noir and went into watching Freud thinking it would be some sort of modern day Marlowe. Anyway, you have to watch intently bc I had to on a few occasions rewind to go over the dialogue. I did not, however, expect the huge reveal that came up in E6 in fact, I was like Whaaaat??? And yep, had to rewind again.
Colin Farrell is excellent and I have just really come to appreciate him and his acting abilities. From his turn in Batman to the Banshees of Inisherin he had an endearing and soft side that just is so sweet. His role as Sufar is not disappointing either
Watch it and enjoy
I hope they get a S2

Constellation (2024)
Slow as molasses
I am so tired of the "upside down" world knock-offs from Strsnger Things. Come on can't these studios get a little more creative? Give me a good Ridley Scott sci-fi anytime over this crap. I only watched bc I enjoyed Noomi in Prometheus, at least it was tangible aliens, engineers, and Robots like David.
This story takes forever to get to the point, and seemed to lose focus. I don't like too many flashbacks and the aforementioned alternate universe to build a story.
Add her brat little girl to the mixture and it'd equally confusing.
Jonathan Banks is a great actor but I kept thinking about his Breaking Bad persona.
Poor Things (2023)
Torment
I always watch movies with an open mind and no prejudgment. But for once I wish I had read these reviews before waisting my time.
Fantasy land and gross characters no batter how popular you may be does not make all the crap in this movie enjoyable. The main character is a grossly backward child who was brought back to life by a Frankenstein like doctor who wanted a child of his own.
Big mistake. She can't walk, talk to make sense of anything in life. They subject this girl to "discover" the environment on her own and it's a disaster. I don't understand the need for the sexual acts and obsession of Mark Ruffalos character with this chick. The gratuitous sex is not relevant to me.
Lizzie (2018)
Snoozefest
Okay, I knew little of the Lizzie Borden story, just what I read or heard earlier in my life. At that time I wasn't interested in looking in depth at the characters.
Now that I've watched this I plan to do some research.
Kristin Stewart (to me) is the worst actress ever. Her facial expressions are endless and seemingly take the place of dialogue in many of her scenes. Chloe was much better in carrying the pain and humiliation of her strict upbringing and abusive father.
The story itself is intriguing but fell flat because of the acting. Were they in fact, Lesbians? I don't care but I think they should have dug more into the creepy father backstory.
Leave the World Behind (2023)
Leave this one behind
I am a Roberts fan ( I'm a Georgia girl too) however, this movie and her performance just are stale. I wish she would choose scripts more carefully. This was promising story, but quickly went flat. The behavior of Roberts and everyone else just was so stupid and didn't make sense for the plot.
Not g us really explained and things happen that are just bizarre.
Seeing Roberts scream at a horde of deer for minutes on end. Then her sons teeth falling out for no apparent reason and the strange daughter obsessions with Friends just totally stupid then Teslas just randomly leaving their dealership and running amuck ? Why?
If the end of the World ends like this I'll check out myself.
This England (2022)
Excellent
Kenneth Branagh is a gem of an actor. He has every nuance, look and mannerisms of Boris Johnson nailed.
Sadly,
It's a look back at 2020 when no one seemed to know what to do with the awful pandemic hit.
Heartwenching to watch as people had to stand by and watch their beloved family & friends die without being able to give them comfort and love. God Bless our healthcare workers for the thankless job they did to help.
Enjoyed this immensely and I appreciate the care and detail everyone put into this project to bring it to everyone . Kenneth Branagh is a rockstar in my opinion and deserves every award.
Pain Hustlers (2023)
Excellent
I don't know what others are talking about. I found this movie very entertaining and informative. We've known for years that big Pharma caters to, brides and pay doctors in accepting their drugs and writing prescriptions for them.
Believe me, I've seen plenty of drug companies rent out an entire theatre and give doctors all kinds of perks. Trips, money and incredible expensive items.
In addition, character played by Emily Blunt is spot on in appearance and demeanor. Drug reps strut like peacocks into these doctor offices to tout their goods. I've even heard them joking and flirting when in the next room
It's all a game and the patients are the guinea pigs. I wouldn't trust the FDA as far as I could throw them.
The Crowded Room (2023)
Have patience
I started watching this a few months ago and honestly, I thought it was just too boring and oh so slow, so I only watched 2 episodes.
Decided to go back and try again last nigh so I'm revising my previous low score to a 10.
The plot builds and weaves along so you're not sure of what is going on, but OMGosh!!! I'm so glad I continued to the end (at 0300 this morning).
Tom Holland can really act and shows he's way better than the Superhero genre. He brings depth and despair to a new level. Amanda Seyfried is excellent, but the show belongs to Tom, and I hope he gets an Academy Award . Give it a chance. You won't be disappointed.
The Ritual Killer (2023)
Don't bother
Such a disappointment. I was looking forward to a good Morgan Freeman quality movie and Cole Hauser, we'll a plus for sure.
Too many characters, weak plot and weak writing. Acting is not good on most of the actors part, either.
Police captain is antagonistic towards his lead homicide detective (Hauser) why? Never explained.
Morgan deserves better than to just phone it in and Hauser needs to choose his tiles carefully, riding on Yellowstone fame will only take him so far.
Hopefully, we'll see more good things in the future.
Morgan deserves better, and so do we - cole, buddy maybe stick with Westerns.
