Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
Epic watching Godzilla and Kong fight, but the rest was not very engaging
Godzilla vs Kong was not great, it had its pros and it's cons. Watching Godzilla and Kong fight each other was super epic, and it had me on the edge of my seat. It was a mixture of brutality, and humour, because they kept on roaring at each other, and there was a scene where Godzilla gave an evil smirk after he knocked down Kong. And in one scene where the two had a fight underwater, when Kong got out of the water he let out a lot of water, and it was just super funny because there is something so humorous about seeing a big monkey letting a bunch of water out of his nose. They also used the environment around them well, by shoving each other into buildings, throwing jet planes at each other etc. Although the fight scenes were good the plot kind of lacked, I didn't understand what was going on, and there was just so many monsters everywhere.
Shrek the Third (2007)
One of the best animated movies I've ever seen
Shrek the third is a fun movie. The plot is interesting, the cast is stacked, it is hilarious, the story is engaging, and it is a rollicking adventure. This movie may not be as good as Shrek 2, but it was still very entertaining. The movie starts off with Prince Charming holding plays of him slaying Shrek, but everyone hates his play's because, Shrek is a beloved icon among the citizens of Far far away. He decides he will get payback on Shrek for stealing Fiona from him and killing his mother. It then cuts to Shrek and Fiona living a happy life in Far far away. But after a while we find out that the King is dying, and needs Shrek to take up the mantle. Shrek heavily refuses, so the King says that there is only one other person who is heir to the throne, his name is Arthur. Shrek hops on a boat with Donkey and Puss in boots to go looking for Arthur. When they arrive at Worcestershire, they find out that Arthur is only a young teenager who gets bullied constantly. Shrek tells Arthur about this, and he seems hesitant but he accepts because he knows it's an escape from his difficult life. Meanwhile Prince Charming persuades all the fairytale villains at the bar to get payback and invade far far away.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Bonkers movie
This movie was pretty good, and certainly better than the 2016 version, but it was just too bonkers to be good. For example the opening scene was straight Into the movie, a bunch of unfamiliar characters (other than Harley and Captain Boomerang) hopping on a Plane and being dropped off on an island. When they arrive on the island, literally everyone dies, apart from Harley. I can't believe they had only two characters returning from the original squad, and one of them died! Sadly it had to be Captain Boomerang. He had barely any screen time in the first movie, so this movie could've been his chance at redemption, but no they just had to kill him off for no reason. I couldn't believe my eyes I thought it must've just been one of the characters dreams or just someone telling a story of what could go wrong, but no they just decided to give this movie one of the worst starts to a movie I've ever seen. Near the end of the movie Peacemaker goes crazy, and kills Rick Flag, and nearly kills Rat-catcher 2. Before he's about to kill Rat-catcher 2, Bloodsport stops him and shoots him in the neck, after Bloodsport and Rat-catcher 2 escape, a big building falls on Peacemaker. Somehow Peacemaker survives all of this because he ends up getting his own tv show (trust me it's not a prequel). I am cringing so hard right now thinking about this.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
What's with all the hate
I know people are going to hate me for this, but I actually really loved this movie. I thought it was way better than the first one, and it fixed all of the problems that the first one had. For example all of the sexism towards men wasn't there, because there was only one scene with the Amazonian's, and it was literally just them doing a triathlon thing which was surprisingly entertaining, and a good way of showing that even as a kid Diana was still stronger then the rest of the Amazonian's. The second problem from the first film that wasn't in this one was Diana having cringey and annoying dialogue. For example she didn't say anything like let's hold hands, because her and Steve were together and she saw everyone else doing it, and she didn't say anything like oh these clothes are what you wear into the war?! And the final problem that this movie fixed was the pace. I found the first one to be too slow going. A benefit that this movie had was all of the new powers that Diana discovered like, the power to turn things invisible, and to fly. Most people found this bonkers and pointless, but I just see it as Wonder Woman becoming my new favourite superhero, because of her amazing range of powers.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024)
I have so many good things to say about this movie
Ghostbusters frozen empire was an amazing addition to the ghostbusters franchise. It had a great cast who all acted well as their charecters. And they were all very funny. Kumail Nanjiani's character Nadeem was a great new character, and the movie did well to set up his origin as the fire master. The original cast had a lot of time to shine in this movie as well as all the good characters from afterlife. Mckenna Grace's character, Phoebe really stood out, because she kept doing bad things accidentally and was fired from being a ghostbuster, she then befriended a ghost while playing chess by herself, but eventually that ghost managed to play her into awakening Garraka. She apologised to her parents for doing it, and they were nice and forgiving of her, unlike how they were before. McKenna acted very well especially considering her young age. The story was very engaging. The only flaw this movie had though was that it was a bit too slow going.
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Better then suicide squad
Birds of prey was better than suicide squad. It wasn't great but it was still a fun movie. I didn't like the start of the movie, it just showed a little animation of what happened to Harley in Suicide Squad, and then she said some stuff about her and Mr J not working out. This was confusing and rushed, it could've at least showed why they broke up, and I also wanted to see the two real characters breaking up. This movie kept getting worse though. It then showed Harley being depressed, so she did some things like steal a car, dance on a pole at the club, and break a lot of glasses. I did not enjoy this part of the movie, because Harley is already quite an annoying character. She just became even more annoying. Also Ewen Magreger's character, The Black Mask was super annoying he swore way to much, and he did some super psychotic things that made him too evil to be a good villain. But the movie did get better, it developed each one of the birds, and their motives. They were developed in an amazing way of going to different parts of the movie and back again, a bit like something from a Christopher Nolan film. Each bird was hilarious and had their own intriguing backstory. It was a great action packed movie, and the fight scenes were hilarious. E.g Black masks defeat, how he got tossed off the bridge and blown up by Cassandra, Harley holding on to the car using Rollerblades. There were a lot more funny fight scenes, but I think you should watch the movie to see them.
The Batman (2022)
Something in the way
The vengeance was pretty good but it had its flaws. The first flaw is that only one character actually called him Batman, and everyone else called him Mr Vengeance, because at the start of the movie, A thug said who are you? He replied with, I'm vengeance. What a stupid decision. The second flaw was it was unnecessarily long. The third flaw was that it was barely an origin story, because Bruce Wayne had already been Batman for a few years. Now onto the positives. The Riddler although he looked super inaccurate to his comic book counterpart, he was still terrifying yet hilarious. I liked how he was this psychopath who brutally murdered people, but then when he was unmasked he was just so innocent looking and he was more lighter. The song something in the way matched the movie really well and I'm glad it's been associated with Batman memes. The song went well with the two great monologues that he gave. The mystery in the movie was good, and he was a good detective Batman.
Wonder Woman (2017)
Sexist, annoying and slow going
Wonder Woman was alright but flawed in many ways. One. It was Sexist towards men, e.g lines like those men do not deserve you, and he's a man why should he help us. Two. It was annoying how it took Diana so long to get used to the outside world. And she had a lot of annoying lines like is this what they wear into battle, why is everyone holding hands(because they're together) then why aren't we holding hands? God damnit why did she have to be written this way it wasn't even funny. Three. The movie was really slow going. E.g it took more than an hour for Diana to be wearing her full costume fighting as Wonder Woman. The good things about the movie though were, that the fight scenes were some of the best in the DCEU, it was a great origin story, and the costumes looked amazing.
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Peter Parker gets depressed and quits being Spiderman
Spider man 2 is a great movie, and it's better than the first one. Pretty much Peter misses Mary Janes play, and finds out she's already engaged to someone else, and his best friend being all mad at him for being friends with the person who assumed killed his father, alongside his powers getting weaker, he decides to quit being Spider Man. But after a beautifully inspiring monologue from Aunt May, he decides to give it a whirl again, but while training, he falls from a great height for the third time in the movie, and he gives us the iconic line of, my back(CRACK) oh my back. Hilarious. The ending of the movie sets up Little Goblin Junior well for the next instalment.
Suicide Squad (2016)
That was gangster no Joking it wasn't great
Suicide squad was one of the worst super hero movies I've ever seen. That doesn't make it a bad movie, because to me there's not really such thing as a bad superhero movie. I have a long list of cons to go through starting with the terrible dialogue, my least favourite part of the movie. Dead shot saying all of these super cringey lines like that was gangster and always calling Diablo homie. The second con is how much they did captain boomerang dirty. He had a lot of screentime but he barely talked or fought. And at the end it showed everyone's happy ending, Harley with her espresso machine, Dead-shot with his punching bag Killer Croc with his TV and then Captain Boomerang screaming in a small boring prison cell without any presents like the other members. And after Captain Boomerang's depressing ending it then showed the Joker and his team breaking into Arkham Asylum to rescue Harley Quinn, they hugged and then Joker looks at the camera and says let's get out of here. All my friends are heathens take it slow. You really think putting a banging song like that with some cool animations in the credits, is gonna make up for how much of a bad ending that was? The answer is no. I can think of so many ways I'd change the movie to fix those flaws. The only good thing about the movie was the fact that it was a typical DCEU movie. A group of super humans fight a big CGI monster and it's goons.
Dune: Part Two (2024)
Better then the first one, but still pretty boring and slow going
Now Dune part two, my most anticipated movie of 2024. Sadly it did not live up to my expectations. It was still good enough, and certainly better then the first one, but it certainly had its flaws. Let's start off with the good. It had a packed cast, I knew probably about 90% of them, and they all acted well. It had amazing cinematography, e.g the orange atmosphere at the start, and all the close ups of the characters, mostly Paul always staring at something in a scared, hopeful, or sigma way. Another amazing feature of the cinematography was the moments of the music going quiet so you could focus on things like the rumble of a worm, or the thumping of the the worm caller, or Paul's deep breathing. This certainly was a fun theatre experience. This move also stepped up the humour a bit more, with characters like Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem having more screen time. It's such a shame that Jason Momoa's character was dead because he could've been the third funny character. Now let's talk about the flaws. The movie was still really boring and slow going, but no where near as bad as the first one. And it seemed to follow a plot line like Star Wars. Where all of the main characters are related, just the same as most of the heroes in Star Wars are all Skywalkers! And Dave Bautista's character was so annoying, and he got killed off in the end alongside his two relatives. One of which was just introduced and he was a great villain, but he got killed off, and he didn't even get enough screen time. So certain aspects of the movie were fun to see in theatre, but I reckon you should wait to see this movie on streaming services.
Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (2021)
Pretty bad
This movie was trash. It had a good cast, and an interesting enough plot. But it was pretty bad. First of all Samoa Hayeks character barely had a moment where she wasn't talking about her sex life. Why did she had to be written like this, clearly nobody else in the movie cares about it anyway apart from her husband who is her submissive. All the action scenes were just people getting shot in the heads with guns, and blood squirting. I wanted to see the bodyguard use his pepper spray a lot more, it was only in one scene where he used it, and the hitman shot the guy in the head afterwards. This movie only had two jokes that somewhat made me amused. The hitman blowing up his dads car, after his dad betrayed him. And oh god I can't even remember the other one that's how dry it was.
The School for Good and Evil (2022)
I had mixed feelings about this movie
I had mixed feelings about this movie. It started off really boring with a lot of cringey dialogue, and it was really obvious what was going to happen in the next scene. I kept hoping for some more magic, and fight scenes etc, but it was always the same. One of the two girls getting bullied by their peers, and looking for a way to get to be both on the good side. It also had a good cast, but the actors/actresses who I knew didn't even have important roles. At least it transformed at about a quarter through the movie. Everything that I was hoping for was starting to happen, but it still had all of the cringey dialogue.
Totally Killer (2023)
Incredibly mid
I have mixed feelings about this movie. So let's start off with the bad ones. It was supposed to be a comedy horror, but I feel like it didn't do either of those things to well. It wasn't that scary because you knew that the kill was about to happen, and so there wasn't really any suspense, like we knew that the killer was hiding in the closet with Tiffany's kill, but it was definitely nice and bloody when she was getting stabbed to death. What they could've done was had her being bored on the bed, and so she closed her eyes and rested, and then the killer snuck up on her, that would've been scary as f. But instead they had it so she thought it was just her boyfriend in the cupboard, and then he came out, and took a while to kill her. The only real comedy in it was when the second killer turned to pink mist, it was a reference to a previous joke in the movie, and Jamie's parents getting to horny as teenagers, and so she ended up having a 34 year old brother in the future. Honestly those jokes worked but I just wish there were a lot more jokes in the movie. Now let's talk about the good. It was honestly a great mystery of who was the killer underneath the mask, and it was a great twist when we found out who was under the mask. Also that at the end there was another killer, who ended up being the therapist from the future. The plot of the movie was interesting a girl going back in time to prevent some deaths from happening, and teaming up with a younger version of her Mum, and her Mums friends.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians (2023)
Surprisingly better then I expected
I have only read a small amount of the lightning thief when I was 7 years old, and I watched the movies at probably around the same age. So I'm not that familiar with the franchise, and my expectations weren't too high, but I ended up loving it, and watching the latest episode every Wednesday. It's good that they actually cast people who are all pretty much accurate age to their characters. Unlike the movies. The acting was really quite amazing, especially because a lot of it came from the teenagers. To be honest the younger version of Percy Jackson was super believable, he looks a lot like the older Percy. And he is only 11 years old. It has a very engaging story that constantly keeps you hooked in, and it has a very surprising twist at the end wich is entertaining. Unlike some other Disney plus original shows, it moves at a fast pace. So that means that you can still sum up the episode you just watched, and something epic still happening in it, and you can say that after every episode. Somehow considering how fast pace it is, there are still 8 episodes, but most other Disney plus ones have about 6. So good work to the directors and writers of this show.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Very understandable why it's the highest rated movie of all time
The Shawshank redemption is now my new favourite movie. I think it is a lot better than the dark knight. I think that one was way to overrated, but this is truly amazing, and worthy of the highest rated movie. It is so emotional the way they develop all of the characters, and then you either feel really happy, or really sad when their big canon event happens. For example Brooks getting fired as librarian, and then not enjoying the outside world. So he decides to kill himself. Cinema. I loved him so much, and it was definitely the saddest scene of the movie. And also Andy finally escaping Prison to go live in that place in Mexico, his escape was such a happy scene, because we had just found out that he was innocent, and didn't deserve to be in prison, and then eventually Red being set free, and going to live with Andy. Easily the best movie ending of all time. Now let's get to the characters that I felt happy when they finally got justice. Andy's bully when he got an absolute fricking beating from the police officer, after he had given Andy multiple beatings. And the Warden shooting himself because he was about to get arrested for shooting the Man who was trying to get the truth out that Andy was innocent. #Amazing. And last but not least Morgan Freeman's great narrating throughout the film of all the events that were happening from Reds perspective. I would definitely recommend this film, but definitely for a mature audience.
Tenet (2020)
Another epic mind bending Cristopher Nolan film
Tenet is very epic. I liked the fight scenes, the cast, and the story. The fight scenes were violent, the scenes where the protagonists fought their past selves, and the characters do make some smart moves, like when Kat broke off the barrier in the fence, squirted sunblock on the ground, applied sunblock on Andrei. He thought that she had accidentally spilled sunblock on the floor, and that she didn't want him to get sun burnt, but then she pulled out a gun shot him, and then dragged his slippery body through the gap in the fence she made. Which he hit his head on the level below, and splashed in to the water. It was such a clean kill, so much fun to watch.
Sully (2016)
Sully was pretty good, here's what I thought
Sully was pretty good here's what I thought. I liked how it pretty much developed every character who was on the plane, it showed why they were going on the plane, witch was cool. And I enjoyed how much they managed to show Sully's PTSD of the event, e.g all of his detailed nightmares, and the Men at the bar bullying him, when they bullied him he pictured the people in the nearby buildings with their shocked expressions, and all of the passengers screaming. 😚Cinema. You could hear the fear in all of the characters voices in their dialogue. The problem I did have with the film though, was that the film mentioned he had daughters, but it never showed them or you never even heard their voice on the phone. The only shot of them we got, was when the Mum said, hey girls turn on the tv, and it showed the back of their heads🙄. Honestly it would've been good if it showed their reaction when they turned on the tv, and having Sully have some interactions with them was what was missing.
Candy Cane Lane (2023)
Modern Christmas classic, I want to watch this every December now
Candy cane lane is a modern Christmas classic, I want to watch this every December now. It is funny, good story, good cast, good Christmas themes, and cool animations. I really don't know why this movie is so badly rated, I really enjoyed every minute of it. Don't get me wrong I even think it is better then home alone. Candy cane lane is about a man named Chris(Eddie Murphy) who goes to a mysterious Christmas shop to decorate his house for the upcoming Candy cane lane competition. The Candy cane lane competition is a thing where every house on that street decorates there house for Christmas, and whoever wins get $10,000 worth of prizes. While in the store he encounters a cool 12 days of Christmas themed tree. He buys it but when he does the untrustworthy cashier prints a very large sheet of Terms and conditions for the tree, without reading them Chris signs it, but what he doesn't know yet is that all of those things that are apart of the 12 days of Christmas are about to come to life, and ruin him and his family's life.
Get Santa (2014)
The magical star that is like The Christmas chronicles but better
Get Santa is a modern Christmas classic. It was really entertaining the whole time. It was pretty much like The Christmas chronicles, but better. And the thing is Christmas chronicles could even be a ripoff because this movie came before it! It is about a young boy named Tom, who finds Santa in his shed all upset because, his sleigh has crashed, and his reindeer have been taken. Santa asks Tom for a boy who he met a few years back to help get him back with his sleigh and reindeer in time to deliver the Christmas presents. The man is in fact the boys father, Steve. Steve is a criminal who has just got out of prison. At first Steve refuses to help Santa, but after Santa gets arrested for taking his reindeer back, the two decide to help rescue him from prison. What a magnificent movie.
Elf (2003)
Buddy the elf, what's your favourite colour?
Jon Faverous Elf, is a hilarious Christmas classic. Me and the family love to watch it every December, and it never gets old. By this point I have pretty much mesmerised every hilarious word that has come out of buddy's mouth. For example, Buddy the elf what's your favourite colour, what's a Christmas gram I want one, wait if your the real Santa what song did I sing for you on your birthday, wow your an angry elf. And many more. Every single word, sound, or action that Buddy does makes me and the whole family crack up. And the perfect actor was chosen to play this amusing role Will Ferrell. Not only is it funny, it has some good Christmas themes like having some Christmas spirit, to help Santa's sleigh fly, and the best way to spread Christmas cheer is to sing loud for all to hear, and to love and respect your family.
Elemental (2023)
Mid asf
Elemental was super mid. Probably more mid then Quantamania to be honest. It had a lot of parts that annoyed me, but most of it I still liked. First let's talk about the parts I didn't like. The fact that there were so little fire people in Element City, and the ones who were there got disrespected by every other Element, how Embers dad wouldn't allow her to date a water person, but Wades family was so respective to her, and how Ember kept loosing her temper even though it wasn't her fault, and the customers were just real fudging pests. The story wasn't engaging either it was just 50 shades of grey, but kid friendly, and with Elements in a futuristic city. I was also concerned about the plant kid who kept on trying to rizz up Ember. There was two much of an age gap. It's time to talk about the good now. It had good animation, good acting, cool scenery, and a good plot.
Loki (2021)
Loki is now the most powerful MCU character, and the most powerful MCU show
Loki is now the most powerful MCU character, and the the most powerful MCU tv show. It is so good throughout every scene. It struggles to get boring at any point. There is a lot of things that my brain couldn't contemplate about the show, but it didn't matter because it was still entertaining even if I didn't understand what was going on. This show seemed like a great introduction for he who remains, so we can understand Kang a bit more when Avengers the Kang dynasty comes out. You are probably wondering why Loki is the most powerful MCU character even though the Avengers easily defeated him, and Thanos killed him. In this show he discovers some new powers that are unrelated to his Asgardian and Frost giant power. He can freeze time, time travel, and hold universes together.
Five Nights at Freddy's (2023)
Terryfiying, had goosebumps the whole time
Fnaf was so scary, and I really enjoyed it, even though I know barely anything about the games. I do not understand how it was r 13, it should've been r 16. It had a couple of really graphic scenes, but the rest was fine, it was still scary though. The two really graphic scenes were a girl getting bitten in half by Freddy, and then when Mike saw all the bloody corpses. Every scene at the diner had so much tension, and I was nervous for every scene, but all the other ones were fine. Most people say the jump scares were lame, but they all made me scream a little bit. Especially that puppet in the cupboard. Definitely watch this movie but definitely do not show it to anyone under 13, unless if they're really familiar with the games, and they're used to a bit of violence.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023)
Pretty good, but it's nothing compared to the first one
Shazam fury of the gods, is pretty good but it's nothing compared to the first one. It's better then Blue Beetle and Quantamania, but that's it. Neither of those movies were very good. It had a cool story, good jokes, and good fight scenes. These are the flaws though, it was poorly written. For example, Wonder Woman appeared at the end, to revive Shazam, but where the hell was she too fight these goddess's, and monsters that threatened the world. Shazam had to sacrifice himself to kill them, when you could've easily taken them, but you choose not to. The villains were trash as well. Kalypso killed her innocent sister Hespera, and nearly killed her other sister Anthea, plus she made a completely innocent random teacher walk off a building just for her own pleasure! Anthea was a double agent, and Hespera turned good in the end. None of them were even very menacing, and two of them just didn't really care about their motive.
