There's no ATLAliveactionTVshow in Ba Sing Se

This wasn't an adaptation I was particularly excited about but it still somehow managed to disappoint me, thanks to some theatre kid level acting and writing rivalled only by alpha builds of chatGPT.

The script is all around weak to say the least except for a couple lines that made me sniff out air and that callback to the iconic intro. On top of that, it gets dragged down even more by the cringe inducing performances. Aang and iroh, while being the only two who looks the part, are the worst offenders of this and feel like completely different characters.

Only Sokka and Gyattso had any bearable acting chops and even the former had one scene on par with The Room that made me cackle in middle of what's supposed to be the biggest tragedy of the show.

Other than that, the CGI even though not quite realistic, looks expensive and is pretty detailed. The sets have some effort put into it. The bending here is taken straight out of the movie that also doesn't exist.

Gave a lot of characterization but with a cop out

Warning: Spoilers
That bullet should've hit. Not only does it not make sense, logically, but it also would have impacted way more, emotionally. Instead they went on the anime route and she caught a frickin bullet which was half an inch away from blasting her brain (or whatever rubber does)

The episode started off with nothing but filler action as usual. But then when maki gets confronted with her relationship, every line of dialogue starts to hit hard.

Mai begging maki to stop chasing her dreams and to stay with her at the bottom hit me to the core. And all of it was done without any fancy animation or over the top music in broad sunlight without any filters. Nothing much but what's there is more than enough.

Wack episode. so wack that Ares somehow became the best part.

Warning: Spoilers
The kids couldn't act if their lives depended but they fine enough on the melodramatic scenes they got here. Like really? You're gonna be a die a statue just bcoz you don't want to get caught by the NYPD? REALLY??

Also Hephaestus was pretty wack too. Like I liked his little intro in the tunnel but he was here just because. Like how does Annabeth figure out the booby trap at the entrance was a fakeout. She's not a daughter of hippy. Neither has she know how gears work so far in the show. The cherry on top was her just flicking the chair without actually trying anything. Like snitch that was made by a God who btw is RIGHT THERE.

Ruined the upward momentum the show had so far. Still better than the pilot.

Recency bias but the show might not ne horrible afterall

Warning: Spoilers
Had a couple of jokes from Scobbel that actually made me cackle. He seems to be comforting into the role slowly, being charming instead of annoying while the girl who plays annabeth couldn't act if her life depends on it.

The few redeeming parts of the episode are taken straight out of the book but not gonna complaining how the pilot made me wish the movie was a cult classic.

This episode continues with stellar cgi that DOES NOT look in place with the rest of the world. The furries tho looked like face swapped chickens and is not intimidating at all. (spoilers ig but) annabeth one shots one after making a huge meteoric mess. (like shouldn't the mist cover it with a car crash and not make everyone blind to it) And i dont even know if the third sister was even there bcoz of how samey the two of them looked.

And at last why was medusa just standing there right next to his butter knife. He could've just swung it. There's no difference between swinging with your eyes closed and stabbing an invisible target. They ruined an iconic book moment.

Justice League: War (2014 Video)

Narrow as a stream, shallow as a puddle.

No unique personalities. Zero emotional attachment. Bad fluff action scenes (which are most of it. The whole movie is a boring dragged out action scene with no action to back it up)

These goofballs take a couple hundred deaths to figure out the most obvious takedown. Takes a LONG time to get it done without even having any obstacles and still gets no consequences out of it. Like WHY!??

I like the character designs taken straight out of the 52 comics, despite everyone having the same blueprint. And had a line or two that made me chuckle I think.

The justice league is inherently doomed as a concept due to everyone basically having the same set of skills so if you can't differentiate their personalities, you got nothing to work with.

Harley Quinn & The Joker: Sound Mind (2023 Podcast Series)

Everything I expected and more
28 October 2023
As a person who has never been into (or even tried) audio series or Batman comics who accidentally came upon Sound Mind, I have to say this was quite an incredible experience. The sharp writing, convincing performances, the emotional flow.. everything comes up together with a perfect knot. 9/10

Eli Horowitz and everyone who worked on it made something unforgettable. So I understand ever episode giving the credit they deserve at the end but the little theme music segues felt rather disruptive to me since I HAD to listen to the last few episodes in a binge (Yeah it is that intriguing) This might sound like a little nitpick but it was sooo annoying and completely broke the immersion the last episode built with the incredible sound design.
