It Chapter Two (2019)
Good characters and actors, goofy movie
The characters are good. The actors portraying them are great. The things in the movie that are about their friendship, and them overcoming their own fears or demons, are also good.
The ending is nice as well. I like that there's humor.
However, I didn't love the rest.
I usually review pretty highly because I'm not super difficult when it comes to movies, but this just didn't hit the mark.
All the monsters were so weird and goofy, and just not scary at all.
At some points, the atmosphere was good, like with the old lady that Beverly visited, and it was starting to be a bit creepy, and then the movie just took it way over the top.
Its a shame, because had they toned it down a bit, a lot of the moments that now took me out of the movie and were just goofy, could've actually been scary.
All in all, the actors really carry the movie.
Mean Girls (2024)
Fun remake of the original with some banger songs
My expectations for this remake were low, especially since its a musical.
However, I was pleasantly surprised! I enjoyed all the main characters, and also enjoyed the songs.
I appreciated that they kept a lot of things the same as the original, even some complete sentences.
At times it was clear that the movie was definitely aimed at people younger than me (29), but only a couple times.
Generally speaking though, I enjoyed it, it was a fun feel-good movie that I think is a good remake of the original. It won't replace it, but it's a nice addition, and I think the musical-aspect actually works for it.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Always the best movies ever made
This movie and the other two will forever remain the best movies ever made.
The lore, the characters, the emotions, the make-up, costumes and sets, everything just clicks together seamlessly no matter how long ago it was made. I love the relationships between the characters, and how all the men are portrayed as just so emotionally mature, where they talk about feelings, cry, and hug. These are the type of men that people can look up to.
All these three movies will forever be my personal favourite. They are also what introduced me to the writings of Tolkien, since I saw the movies long before I read the book(s).
A Small Light: Legacy (2023)
Heartbreaking and beautiful
I made an account just to review this series and this episode.
This episode especially just broke me into pieces, and I cried like a little kid. The acting is incredible, everything is incredible.
I am Dutch and enjoyed the little old Dutch touches such as the plates Jan and Miep are using when eating their 'bloembollen' soup.
It really is a fantastic episode from beginning to end. All the emotional ups and downs are really well done as well. It's hard not to get absolutely sucked up into the episode and into the emotions of the characters.
I have only good things to say about this series, and about this episode.
