The Evading (2007)
What a waste of time
This rambling, mismatched, broken, poorly acted, bad dialog excuse for a movie is one of the worst I have seen. It started badly and then got worse. Do not waste your time on this one. The story makes no sense and nothing was explained. The cinematography was terrible and the cast of characters left something to be desired. The dialog was wooden and the delivery was stiff. In my opinion, there was not one good performance in the entire movie. And shame on the director for trying to steal a little from Japanese horror with the little girl and the hair hanging in her face. Not scary.I can't believe I watched the whole thing. I kept thinking "Maybe it will get better." It didn't. I did like the "creature" but even that aspect of this movie was underrated. I think that there may be the kernel of a decent story somewhere in there, but I may be wrong. This one was a stinker!
The Mist (2007)
Good, but not up to expectations
The mist has been one of my all time favorite stories from Stephen King. I was really excited about seeing this movie. For the most part, I was not disappointed. While the "things" in the mist were more terrifying in my imagination, the film version also brought the creepiness and horror out.
However, I do take issue with the ending. In my opinion, the short story ending FAR surpassed the film ending. I was left disappointed and a little disgusted. I think someone sold out to the ideas of Hollywood and what they thought would make money.
With the amount of money and clout Stephen King carries, I would have thought he could have put his foot down and demanded the film follow the story completely.
All in all, this was a good, not great film. It does give a good example of the earlier, and in my opinion better, writings of Stephen King.
The Planet (2006)
Terrible movie
I was excited about this movie after reading other reviews. What a disappointment! There are so many ways that this movie is bad. The computer graphics were lacking to say the least. I found the acting stiff and unbelievable. Watch the sand as the lost "e-pods" (what an original name!)are found. Where did all the tracks come from? I immediately recognized portions similar to other movies, ie Alien, Pitch Black. Come on,one huge ship to transport one prisoner? And what is with the prisoner? Does he speak, can he speak? I kept waiting for something to tie the bits of the story together, but it never came. If this movie was made on a low budget, it shows. The only part of the movie I liked was when it finally ended. I don't mean that I liked the ending, I didn't. I just liked the fact that it was over. A trip to the dentist would have been more enjoyable. In my opinion. don't waste your time on this one.
